Just a bit of an update for anyone in a similar position to me. I had a successful cardioversion August 2020 and remained on flecainide 50mg bd and apixaban. At my final check up in March 2021 my cardiologist said I could try to gradually reduce and then come off flecainide Nov/Dec 2021. When it got to that point I emailed him to ask if I could keep taking it on the basis of why rock the boat when I have had no issues and I was very anxious in case I immediately went back into AF. His advice was to give coming off it a try which I completed this month. So far no issues but I only took my last tablet on 25th January so I know it is early days. I am so glad I went with his advice and he's said I can still take flecainide as a PIP if needed. I have made a number of lifestyle changes since my initial diagnosis to try to reduce as many risks as possible but I know from a lot of posts on here that's no guarantee AF won't return. Fingers crossed.

As we always gtell people cardioversion is not a cure but one hopes that your life style changes (which are probably the most importnat thing for all of us) will have reduced your AF burden.
