I hope you are continuing to improve Laine.I was thinking about your experience and about how often people ask the question about when to gotoA and E when theirAF doesn't stop and I think your difficulties highlighted the importance of getting treatment, Even if it's not possible to completely stop theAF then at least it can be slowed down and, as in your case ,where fluid had built up, treatment with diruectics can be started.Do let us know how you get on.

Flapjack kindly posted about our support group meeting at 5pm on 2nd February ( my birthday but not telling my age!) and I thought I'd remind you that any questions you'd like to put to the doctor speaking (hisPHd was on persistentAF and he is into EP at Georges) should be sent to info@surreyasg.co.ukby Saturday so I can forward them on to him.All are welcome to join us and ask for a link by emailing ( I don't see the forum every day so don't leave message here please.

All the best Laine

Before I had my ablation last year I had a long bout of AF, went to A & E and eventually after 6 hrs I was put in a ward for observation. Just before I was told I could go home I was paid a visit by the cardio nurse who gave me such a dressing down for turning up at A & E, made me feel terrible and really put me off going back if I ever get so bad again.

He took me by surprise and I was taken aback by it, wasn’t until after he had gone I was shaken by it and what he said has stayed with me nearly a year later. I have tried to put it to bed by saying to myself he must have been having a bad day !

That is so unacceptable it makes my blood boil. This attitude to someone who has a genuine condition and is vulnerable and frightened by the mind games AF creates is so inappropriate.

Over the many decades that my heart has not behaved I too have had responses from both ends of the spectrum. I think that type of person is however the exception to the rule.
