I'm not sure if this has been mentioned on the forums but NICE have now issued guidance that approves the use of the Kardia device in the NHS on 6 Jan 2022.

NICE Approves Kardia for NHS
Hiya,
Was not aware of that so thank you for the information.
John
NIce late to the party again. Most EPs have accepted them for years.
Does that mean that if you go to the surgery they will just use a Kardia instead of connecting you up to one of their machines? Seems very sensible.
They might, some surgeries already have some. It won't replace a full ECG though. They may also let patients borrow one to try and capture fleeting issues. I've taken recordings to my cardiologists (and A&E) before for them to view events and it was well received.
As Bob mentioned NICE have been very slow in coming out with this, but it may influence more surgeries to start using them. (Not that you get to see a GP easily these days).
Thanks for posting. Very slow catching up and let’s hope that they will start using more now as the cost is so much less than some alternatives - as long as they get returned or get lost.
It might also be an idea for doctors to loan patients an Apple watch so that there would be a record of their heart rates over a whole day. Good for those fleeting moments too!
Thank you for this, Drounding. My docs - GP, cardiologist and EP accepted my Kardia printouts since I bought one in 2014 but all want the 'confirmation' of a full NHS ECG at regular intervals.
The first time I saw a Kardia was four years ago when the cardio nurse produced it to check on my cardioversion when I woke up. So I'm not sure that NICE approval is exactly cutting edge...
What is s kardia. what is it used for?
