Hello all- it’s been a while since my last post as all has been well since my ablation for Prox Afib in June 2019 however this morning I was woken by Afib at 04:40 and luckily ha my Kardia to hand to record it. This has been sent off to my Cardiologist to take a look. Had a real run of ectopics over the la few months but nothing really new for me as have had them pretty much all along this journey since 2017 when diagnosed. Has anyone had instances of one a fib episode and then nothing? I was just getting back into my stride again and losing the fear of this thing for it to come back and bite me on the rear end… regards Matt, 45 North Norfolk UK

Afib return?
Hi Matt!
I wouldn’t worry too much. Sometimes different arrhythmias or ectopics can develop after ablations.
My husband, who had his ablation in June 21 still gets rare episodes of a fast heartbeat, he just said it feels a little different than afib, but still uncomfortable. His EP told us that it’s quite common and nothing to worry about.
You’re doing the right thing by checking with your kardia whenever you feel there’s something not normal. Keep trying to be positive!
Hi there - thanks for your reply… this was defo Afib as I remember it. It was around 150bom when i was woken by it and it hung around the 117bpm for a bit - probably aided by my panic!! However it calmed after 3 hours and went back to NSR so who knows? But again thanks for your response 👍
Hi Matt, The exact same thing happened to me, had the ablation in mar 2021 had a pretty good 9 mths free of afib and then just after new year had a few days of ectopics. Last wed early hrs 3.45 woke up to afib 145 bpm. My cardio nurse was sent the ecg from my Kardia and his reply is in my earlier post which you can read. Have been free for 3 days since.
Hi Stonerosed - thanks for your response. Yeah it’s very similar to me on Friday morning . Checked with Kardia and defo AF - which is a bummer after two years AF free albeit with sometimes daily runs of ectopic beats that I can deal with. Might just need another top up around the old ticker but I’ll wait and see - thanks though for letting me know I’m not the only one 👍
I had an ablation for atrial flutter in 2019, then one episode close to that of AF with a really high heart rate, followed by months of nothing but more except ectopic beats. That was until autumn 2020 when I began getting quite regular mild tachycardia; by late 2021 that developed into several episodes of multiple ectopic beats and AF but, since then, fingers crossed, just the episodes of tachycardia remain.
It's a worrying thing, I'll say that! Let us know what your cardiologist has to say and let's hope it's a one-off. The AF I had last autumn didn't produce symptoms much different from the tachycardia, luckily, unpleasant as that is.

Hi there - thanks for the reassurance and taking time to respond. I have a had a bit of a cold sort of feeling recently and I wonder if that maybe kicked it off - not COVID thankfully also a bit of stress with some deaths in the family and several funerals plus the added normal work and family stress!! It’s real shame as for the past few months my ectopic had slowed considerably and I wasn’t noticing them that much to the point I thought ‘hello - things are looking up!!’ bloody mongrel condition this… hey ho - I’ll let you know how I get on - cheers
