Profound change in AF that is confusing for me

I am racked with back and hip pain, so much so that my pain specialist Dr wants to insert a spinal cord electrical stimulator under the skin which I elected not to do. I did just try some tinture of 1 to 1 THC/CBD that did not work at all alleviating pain and inducted not calmness but near panic feeling and threw me into a 3 day, so far, off and on state of AF and NSR off and on. I have the PIP Flec 300 MG to take - but unsure if to take it since I am mostly in NSR most of the time. OF special note, it seems that the hang over effect of the THC/CBD has materially changed my BP readings to much lower "Normal 120/70's which is about 10 less than normal on both diastolic and systolic readings of 130/80's? Hmmmmm? The 300one dose of Flec has worked in the past but leaves me wrecked with a 3 day flu like hangover.. Unsure whether to take it or not... Thanks for any input I am missing thinking of.

Hello Ride.

"I have the PIP Flec 300 MG to take - but unsure if to take it since I am mostly in NSR most of the time"

I wonder if it's asking your doctor if worth reducing your Flec to 200 mg a day - cetainly if you are in sinus most of time.

Just a thought.

You must consult your cardiologist for advice on medication. We are not competent to comment.

What I would say is that Flec at 300mg is the highest dose for a 24hour period and is to chemically convert you back into NSR so if you aren’t actually in constant AF then I would think it very risky to take Flec as it could well cause other far more serious arrythmias.

I carry it for this reason and always wonder when it should be used. The confusing part was after taking the CBD/THC had worn off and left me still vascilling back and forth. Thanks for your input. I will get in touch with my new Cardio Dr.

HiMy sister in law was wracked with terrible back pain and was operated on, put on morphine etc and then tried the electrical stimulator implant and it worked wonders for her. She still suffers especially when it's humid but nothing like the crippling pain of before.

I take Flec slow release so can't help with PIP.

Take care

My god daughters husband had this operation when he was in his thirties it changed his life as he had been in chronic pain with a back condition since he was very young

Lily and Desanthony - when did they have it put in? Is it still working 2 years later? Hope so!

Hi Perhaps 9 or 10 years ago I think. She is a calm ( but anxious) person who doesn't complain. How well it's working I don't know but she seems in a much better place than a few years back when she could hardly move! So I would say it has been really worth it and it changed her life. Obviously I am relaying a member of my family's experience. I have no idea if it would be effective for your pain , but why not?

It may be worth a try if your pain specialist Dr has suggested it and feels you would benefit from it.

Take care

I've had strange back hip pain. Blood test showed I was very low on potassium. Once potassium levels got back to normal the pain went. Just a thought.

Thank you all for your input. I relented and finally took the 300mg of Flec one time and within hours I was back in NSR with normal BP. Ironically - Afib for me feels like a panic attack.

Absolutely does for some people so without an ECG it’s really difficult to tell as not everyone has the same symptoms.

Have you got a Kardia? I can’t tell the difference between ectopics and AF as they both feel the same for me but the Kardia identifies them.

My rule for taking Flec as a PIP was wait 3 hours for it to self convert and then take a PIP - ensuring it was taken on an empty stomach. Some I know don’t wait that long.

Thanks for the info - I waited too long I believe until midway thru the 3rd day. I am tightening up my intake of things to preclude this from happening again. NO More daily 1.5 shot of good Irish whiskey while watching the national news as has been my norm, and definitely no CBD/THC for back pain experimentation. My Doc's say I am at the top of my game biologically and physically for my age and the fall will be hard for me to adjust to REAL aging. I know it is rapidly approaching.

My granny had a saying - Old age is not for the feint of heart. OH BOY do I now know what she meant!

I DO miss my Irish Whiskey, I was a Jameson fan myself and just found 3 bottles at back of cupboard I put there in about 2012 thinking that after ablation I would be able to imbibing. Not a bit of it, just a sniff from the glass would send my heart all of a quiver.

My then OH had a racing dinghy called RidersontheStorm - unfortunately our sailing pals shortened it to ROTS. I promise I won’t abbreviate when posting to you. Have a great day.
