Good afternoon I hope you have all got a full tank of petrol (uk members).
My question is what overnight resting heart rate is acceptable regarding being low. I seem to be going down to 45 at times. My iwatch shows 45 as my overnight average. I recently went from 5mg to 10mg of amlodipine. Does this reduce the heart rate and what would be a level to raise concern and call GP.
Best wishes

hello FirstbusmanIm PAF and apixoban only - my heart rate on apple watch 4 has gone down to 39/45 while asleep on several occasions. both GP and EP said was of no concern.
My overnight sleeping HR often gets down to 53 while generally daytime readings when out on the road in my bus are steady at around 61 to 64, unless something excites me/gets me wound up !
The bit of paper inside the packet of amlodopine would be the most reliable source of information and it should list a range of side effects etc. etc.
It just sounds as if amlodopine is part of the same family of drugs that I am on .... Felodopine .... the " lodopine" maybe the clue, in which case its a drug that can be used for addressing high blood pressure.
When I was put into Bisoprolol my HR dropped so it was into the 30s at night and my GP WAS concerned. My normal resting HR was 70 ish so it was a large drop.
Hi I’m on 1.25mg Bisoprolol and my heart rate drops to 38-39 at night but my daytime resting heart rate is about 45. I have an ablation next week due to not being able to tolerate bisoprolol etc due to low heart rate.
No Meds only rivaroxaban, I do not know my night time rate but daytime is 46-48, not sure anything is normal in this group.
Hi. I spent a long time on 1.25mg bisoprolol twice a day, but since my ablation I'm now on 2.5mg twice a day, together with flecainide. My resting heart rate is usually around the 45bmp mark during deep sleep, and 48 - 50 when just sat still for a long period.
Given we all have physical differences, the important thing is to know your own blood oxygen levels when your HR is low. You have an iwatch which means you have access to the oximeter app (I have it on my iwatch). I too have low HR at night but my blood oxygen levels have always been above 96% (I’ve measured many times when waking in the wee hours). If your blood levels are low your vital organs don’t get what they need to function and repair. This little function on my iwatch is very reassuring at times. Give it a go.
