Place and an AED in your school through the #DefibsInSchools campaign. It could be the difference between life or death if an AED is more than three minutes walking distance from you or your loved ones. Well, yes, but stories about an extremely rare 5 year old incident is probably not going to convince administration budget departments or insurance companies. I am a first responder, and would propose appealing to the more likely scenario, of the adult staff benefiting from a defib unit. A much easier sell. I'm actually surprised teacher's unions haven't mandated one. Having said that, as you are aware, pediatric settings and pad placement are different for children <55lbs and although the AED device instructions are clear about this, annual refresher training should be in place as well as mandatory CPR and first aid training. Three minutes of manual CPR while waiting for the AED, is life-and-death critical.
Thank you for your reply, the charity is once again hoping to raise awareness of the importance of life saving AED's being available, especially in schools, universities and educational establishments, as a first responder yourself, I am sure you are in full support of this need.
