Hi, I have high blood pressure and AF, which I am in at the moment. Is it okay to take a Magnesium supplement. The medication I am taking at the moment is Enalapril 5mg 2x daily, Apixaban 5mg 2x daily, Bisoprolol 5mg in the morning, Bisoprolol 1.25mg at night and Atorvastatin 40mg at night. I was told by A&E a couple weeks ago, to stop taking these as they may interfere with my medication. I have recently changed medication from Sotalol to Bisoprolol as I have been in AF for the past 4 weeks now.

We can’t advise Re medication for you as all individuals. A cardiologist advised Me to take magnesium when I told him I had increased potassium in my diet( potassium supplements are dangerous) so my GP prescribed magnesium for me Hope your AFstops soon
I take them with those meds- and a few more! No problems as far as I know. But as Rosy says we can't advise. I do know Mg can help AF, but too much Magnesium can trigger AF. Worth bearing in mind.
Thanks Coco, I need to speak to the my doctor and she what she says. My daughter's husband takes them and he's in AF, he was surprised when the doctor at A&E said stop taking them.
Doctors in A&E aren't necessarily heart specialists. The first thing I got when I went to A&E with AF was a drip with Magnesium in it!
Thanks Coco, its very confusing, you don't know what to do for the best. I've been referred to a Cardiologist as well now, so I'll wait till I see him or her, which hopefully won't be too long. Doctor this morning increased my Bisoprolol from 6.25 to 7.5mg so fingers crossed.
