Hi all. My heart rate last night was 140 from 12.30am to 6am.No sleep a d I got into a panic mode. Currently creeping up. 95 at the mo. I'm so sleepy tonight hubby too. Any ideas as to why this has started to happen. The rate is regular. I have a fib and an ecg also showed flutter.

Fast heart rate during night.
The rate is regular at 140? Are you sure its regular? Sounds like flutter rarher than afib if so. Not medically trained but I had re entrant flutter at a fairly consistent 140bpm, which was rate controlled at that level by the Diltiazem i was taking. I assume you are on rate control drugs for the afib?
Really you need an ecg to be sure.
Not being funny, you didn’t watch the England match lat night by any chance. That got my heart racing. The excitement could have unsettled you. Hope you are feeling better today. Steve
Sounds like flutter if its regular high pulse but only a doctor will be able to confirm that for you and investigate.
I have this too! Unfortunately many times a night but only for a few minutes at a time but still very annoying due to broken sleep. Wore a holter monitor and it picked up multiple events at up to 200bpm. EP suggested upping my atenolol which worked to start with but is recently breaking through again. EP says it’s fine and will see me in clinic in six months time but I think that’s just creating a longer wait for a 2nd ablation. It is an easier message to get me to wait 6 months for a clinic then 12 months for a second ablation rather than yes you need the ablation but the wait is 18 months. Lack of sleep has a real affect on QoL.
I've yet to see any NHS consultants just the 2 I've paid for. It's hard for anyone getting treatment at the mo. I'm seei g my local NHS cardio end of this month. Was referred in JanReally worries me that my heart is going like the clappers all the time.came home from my hols a day early Wed as I was in a cabin in Sherwood Forest miles from anywhere. Had a major panic session said to hubby at 3am I want to go home. What now was the response. I would have said yes but don't think he would have been keen lol. He was supportive tho. We both just had 2 1/2 hours sleep.
Oh I do feel for you. Feeling you are keeping your partner awake is probably worse than being awake yourself! I hope you get some answers when you see the cardio people. I’ve always been told that your heart beating fast isn’t dangerous just annoying but hopefully can be controlled by medication. Let’s hope your is the same! Good luck let us know how you get on.
