I've been on 5mg dose of bisoporol for 8 months.
Experiencing extreme fatigue and occasional nausea, has anyone had this and is it reasonable to blame this on bisoporol?

I have recently come off Bisoprolol 3days ago due to extreme fatigue ,brain fog ,and feeling generally unwell ,I was diagnosed with AF 3 weeks ago, there have been quite a few trips to GP,A&E in that time, Have you been like this all the time you have taken Bisopropol?
No, the issues started about 2 months ago, minor at the begining but increasing rapidly.Feel weak, sometimes dizzy and simple physical jobs (opening 2 bags of mulch and dumping the contents in a wheel barrow totally gasses me and I have to sit down for awhile to gather enough strength to back in the house.
I agree you should speak to the medics if this is a recent thing. I also take 5mg Bisoprolol daily, but it's split into 2.5mg morning and 2.5mg evening. I do get very tired , but I can't be sure it's the Bisoprolol or the poor old heart having to deal with the situation it's in. Some days are good and some not so good, but each day a bonus so keep on keeping on and good luck!
Bisoprolol inhibits the conversion of thyroid hormones......this causes the body to slow down as effectively your body is getting less thyroid hormones. This causes fatigue and can be accumalative which is what may be happening to you. Low thyroid hormones causes extreme fatigue, dizziness, constipation, blurred vision and a host of other symptoms. All beta blockers do this to varying degress, some are worse than others. There are alternatives such as calcium channel blockers that do not affect the thyroid. .
I'm my case yes , I was advised to use it daily by the cardiologist but after experiencing the same symptoms as you we decided to just use it during an episode as a sort of PIP which has worked fine .I do generally have a lowish resting HR so that may explain the effects I experienced but for over 2 years now I have used this method with no ill effects . I have no idea if taking Bisoprolol during my episodes has much effect on reducing symptoms but my heart rate certainly doesn't go much above 90 bpm which means for me I don't feel too bad .
Hope that offers you some comfort
Hi,I am on 5mg, split morning and evening 2.5mg each.
This was split due to tiredness but in all fairness I think it was mostly because I was so recently out of open heart surgery.
I am back in work now, 6 months later,10 hours a day 5 days a week and actually don't drop off during my lunch break which I did before surgery.
Been having ongoing issues with heartbeats missing and double beating so cardio rehab have asked the GP to up the bisoprolol by 1.75mg ( or whatever the next dosage is)
I am hoping this doesn't upset my imperfectly unbalanced lifestyle as, apart for still being alive, this is as bad I could have wished for already. 😀

I had the same problem with Bisoprolol. I have been off this now for 3 years. I couldn’t take any of these types of medications. Just before my 1st cardioversion my new cardio put me on digoxin the higher dose had the same effect but the lower dose I seemed ok on but was only on it for about 4 weeks before my successful CV. Since then I have had another 2 successful CV’s and no one has put me back on that type of medication. I am hoping to have another CV soon and then be reassessed for ablation- should have had it a year ago last April, then September and then October but Covid lockdowns and break ours got in the way.
Bisoprolol, 5 mg. my wife as been on it for 12 months and often feels tired, but she puts it down t to one of the other meds. She takes. I have been on it for 9 months, same dose. I now suffer from extreme insomnia. I spoke to my doctor about it last week who agrees that it may be the cause, but as advised not to stop taking it owing to my heart problems. I now also have days of extreme tiredness but as been put down as been caused by cocodamol 30/500 I have to take every day for acute rheumatoid Arthritis.
You could ask to change to other beta blockers or calcium channel blockers to see if they make a difference. Personally I couldn’t get on with any of them I think we tried about 6 different ones snd once two in combination but by three weeks I was worse than I had been without them: extremely fatigued, breathless and coughing and when I couldn’t even walk down the stairs one Saturday morning my wife called the cardiologist and I was told to stop taking them straight away. If you can cope on them fine but a lot of people cant.
fortunately I dont have much problems with 2.5 mg prescribe daily.Lately after two years I miss the dos and normally take it whenever I feel my heartbeat a bit faster for exp more than 90
Thanks for that, my wife as also developed a cough which I forgot about.
I've been on that dose (having developed permanent AF) for about the same time. I do get a feeling of heaviness in the chest sometimes (when I'm walking uphill) but I don't have nausea. The palpitations have settled and, at the moment, I can live with the irregular heartbeat, which at least is not too fast or too slow.
