Does anyone take bisoporol in the morning and at night. I take 5mg in the morning and 2.5mg at night. Bit worried because I also take 2.5mg of ramipril at night.

I split my dose and have half morning and half night.

For the last 14 years I have taken 10mg Ramipril in the morning, still do.

When I was first prescribed Bisoprolol 5mg it was to be taken in the morning in one hit. After a while I found this gave me serious, full flow and totally random nose bleeds. Saw my GP and had a moan and she said take it at night. From that point on I switched Bisoprolol to night time and have never had a nose bleed since, nor any other problems until August last year when my GP switched me from Bisoprolol to Nebivolol, still taking the Nebivolol 5mg at night. Earlier this year had to see a new Cardiac consultant and he switched me ( to meet new AF issues ) from Nebivolol to Sotalol 40mg ......... these I now take 1 x 40mg in morning and 1 x 40mg at night, still taking my Ramipril in the morning. No sweat !

Thats my beta blocker history.

I prefer to space my intake as some don't like each other lol but to ease your mind have a word with your pharmacist, they can give you the low down on the drugs you are taking.

I take it at night because it oversedates me if I take it during the day. My cardiologist has no problems with that. It still works.

Exactly the same reasons as my wife, and also with cardiologist's approval. She actually loves that it helps her to sleep

I always took Bisoprolol at night, with the agreement of my cardiologist. I wanted to take it at the same time as my Warfarin so that it was less to remember ! When my dose was increased eventually to 10 mgs, the cardiologist said to take it in a split dose - 5 mgs morning and night. It makes sense not to have one big ‘hit’, plus if you do forget a dose, it’s essentially only half a daily dose ! Why are you worried about taking it at the same time as Ramipril ? Because they both reduce blood pressure ? I don’t think taking it at the same time would have a different effect to taking it at a different time.

I worry about taking both Ramipril and bisoporol late at night as my heart rate is very low and worried when I sleep it might go too low. I do try and split the times but ever since I had my heart attack and stents fitted I have been on Ramipril last thing at night with my statins. And 2.5 mg of bisoporol in the morning but since having A F and cardio version they increased my bisoporol to 5 mg morning and 5 mg at night. Then the night one. To 2.5,mg. Now I am trying to stop the night one but been having a few funny heart beats. Only been 3 nights so fingers crossed.

Apparently you must reduce Bisoprolol very slowly. Some on this forum suggest getting a pill cutter and reducing a quarter of a pill at a time - staying on each reduced dose at least a week before continuing the reduction. It seems not all GPs or cardiologists explain this. Might a too-quick reduction be the cause of your ‘funny heart beats’ ? Good luck !

Good morning from a damp North Somerset, Before having a pacemaker and AV node ablated I used to take both tablets. Bisoprolol did not suit me as was always feeling a loss of energy.

Now I am back to normal, well near enough

Iam 79

Best wishes

Bisoprolol wipes me out totally 😔

I did but I read that the blood levels soon level out whenever it is taken. There are some here who say they prefer a night time dose, though.

Hi

BBs did nothing for my rapid heart rate 186 on Metoprolol and caused pauses at night and 156 Bisoprolol twice daily.

Taken at night research has proven best time because BP goes up in the early morning.

No amount of BBs brought down my BPM.

Introduced CCB Diltiazem. Brought down H/R in 2 hours 156 to 51!

2 years now on

Diltiazem 120mg AM for control h/rate Day now 60s Day

always 47bpm avg Night

BB Bisoprolol 2.5mg PM for BP control.

I take 5g morning and night and have done for over a year and to be honest, other than fatigue, possibly caused by all the other problems with heart and lungs that I have, it has never given me any worries. I did query the dosage at my last medication review but just as a general question.

I take 1.25mg bisoprolol in the morning and 2.5mg at night with 7.5mg of ramipril with no issues. I was told to take ramipril at night as I take 3 other BP meds in the morning and it could've caused issues.

I was prescribed 5mg per day and chose to split it to 3.75mg in the morning and 1.25mgs in the evening. I do get very tired in the morning which could be the higher dose but generally the dosage suits me (for now!). My rationale was that I get symptoms in the early hours of the morning so think the higher dose reduces the AF burden. I'm more relaxed at night so my heart rate is lower. Plus, I am more likely to drink alcohol at night so don't want to mix them up too much. Not sure what happens overnight but I do wake up a lot from 4pm onwards and have to wee a lot.

Have been taking both Bisoprolol and Ramipril plus Warfarin for 12 years. 5mg of each lunch time and night. Warfarin late afternoon. I don't like to take everything all at once and find that spaceing them out seems to work and no nasty side effects. Have had other meds added over the years and am now taking a total of 12 pills in 8 time slots. Have now put alarms o n my tablet, so I am not forgetting to take them and leaving insufficient time between doses. Next one due 21.00. Only problem now is to remember to have tablet within earshot😊
