Read this heartrhythmalliance.org/res... for the offical how to recover fact sheet
There are a considerable number of existing posts about this and if you look to the right of this page, click on “Related Posts” there will be lots there for you to read. If you are waiting for an ablation, there is another factsheet which will help. Link below.....

I’ve seen people refer to related posts before but I can never find them! Is it because I’m reading these on an iPhone? There is nothing to the right on my display!
I think so, I guess there’s a limit to what can be put on the screen....
I was hoping to find some more recent post from 2021.
I think you will find that the procedure hasn’t changed much, certainly over the last 10 years or so. Add to that, we all react differently so in truth whilst it might be interesting, other folks experiences will only provide a very rough guide to what to expect. People also react differently to general aesthetics or sedation but I hope you will find what you are looking for......
I felt fine. No afib!
I am totally allergic to pain and discomfort and have won prizes for it.?😂 but apart from a tiny bit of soreness around the groin entry points the day after I found it all ok.
Had one 3 weeks ago. My groin was sore for a little bit but very tolerable. I felt pretty good actually. Just tired. Don’t over do it . I still get tired easily but I am still healing. I still feel ectopics but that is normal in the healing process. I am not on any anti arrhythmic medications right now which is a huge improvement! Good luck!
I've had 4 ablations. 3 over 10 years ago; one recently.
The procedure has changed quite dramatically for the better. Hardly no pain whatsoever ... no bruising around groin like before .... new collagen plug tech for groin entry that heals quicker and left a small freckle-sized mark on skin .... no more laying still for 8 hours after the ablation .... better arrhythmia mapping to find erratic electrical signals. Everything is better today ......
Recovery is pretty straight forward. About the same as years ago. Will feel very tired for a week. Then 3 months (or longer) of possible bursts here and there of erratic heart beats which will eventually fade if the ablation is successful.
It could take up to eight weeks for the ablated (or damaged) regions of heart tissue to recover. During the initial weeks following your ablation, you can still experience arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats). You could require various types of treatment during this period, such as anti-arrhythmic medication.
