Chest pain/tightness started 3 weeks post-ablation. Should I be concerned?

I (M, 33) had cardiac ablation for ventricular tachycardia (not a-fib, but didn’t know where else to post!).

After the procedure, I felt weak but no real pain other than a little around my insertion points in my femoral arteries.

2 weeks after the procedure, I went on a 4-mile walk (which was too long), and that evening my heart started racing to around 170, then coming back to normal, then racing, then normal, etc. for about 4 hours.

I went in to the hospital, and they doubled my Verapamil and monitored me for a few days, then released me.

It’s now 4 days later, and I’m experiencing chest pain on the left side. It’s mild, but it’s becoming more frequent compared to when I started feeling some occasionally yesterday. It’s almost like a mild pressure/pain/itch in my heart area.

Has anyone else experienced pain 3 weeks post—ablation after experiencing no pain until that point?

Any chest pain needs to be investigated in my opinion . It does sound like you have been trying to do too much and ignoring our fact sheet advice.

I would get that investigated immediately at a hospital to rule out anything serious

I would definitely get checked out.Chest pain doesn't sound right. I've had two ablations for vt and never had any pain after in the chest, apart from an odd tinge. I don't know whether vt ablations vary much from afib ones but I didn't suffer from any tiredness that lots of others experience, I'm in my 40s and was very fit prior to having my ablations. I take things steady these days. I go out for a jog rather than a run. I also monitor my hr during exercise and slow down if it goes up. Good luck. Hope you get sorted and definitely get it checked if you're still in pain. Jill

I overdid it in the garden 2 weeks after my ablation (of 24 days ago) and had slight pain in the left heart region, and a sort of internal itching. I rested a few days and it was gone. I found that overdoing it -- even if not strenuous, but generally too much activity -- would give me various sensations. Just take it easy!
