And Just As You Think Its Quiet on the Pulse Front..........

Evening chaps and chapesses.

Well, here was I, hoping for a quiet event free day and then.........

Popped to Holland & Barrett with hubby to get some arnica. After Avocadogate, I wasn't going to chance what he would come back with.

According to my Versa 2, I had only walked 0.35 of a mile in total from getting up, to getting back to the car. Gentle, flat, slow walking. On the way home, hubby had to brake quite hard as someone decided to do a u turn.so I did get a bit of a jolt. Bit spooked and seatbelt tightened but otherwise ok. This was around 2.15pm.

Got home, dropped the trolleys and got a rub down with arnica (not on the nether regions 😳) Smells nice but let's hope it works.

A couple of hours later, I was sat quietly, minding my own business when I felt a bit of discomfort in my chest. Checked my watch and pulse was in the 90s and rising. My usual average resting rate is 52. It pinged about between 102 - 114 for around 20 mins. Checking my pulse at my wrist, it didn't feel like AF, as usually, its difficult to actually find a pulse when I'm in AF. It did not appear irregular as such so I'm thinking atrial flutter.

Not sure what the trigger was out of today's events, one or a combo or perhaps it was just going to happen today even if I didn't leave my chair. It's now between 77 and 85 so I'm thinking the days of 52bpm are out of the window. I was only saying to the registrar yesterday how happy I was that my bpm were still good and he said I was fortunate that my meds were keeping it in check.

I know that it's very common and usual for it to happen, according to the fact sheets from here and the hospital and from posts on here, so I'm trying to just take it on the chin (well, one of the chins) and not get wound up by it.

On the upside, the addition of prunes to my breakfast is keeping the Suez Canal clear of traffic, if you catch my drift πŸ˜‰.

Tomorrow is another day eh?

Take care all.

I suppose these things happen. Take things easy.

Poor hubby! My wife's cousin had to look after the house and two young school aged children when his wife went away as her father was seriously ill and later died. She told him if you have to do washing remember it's E for everything for most things and you won't have a disaster. So what does he do? Wait for it ... ... ... ... ... A for Anything! This was in the days before mobile phones so couldn't check with her as she was spending all her time at the hospital. After that her friend from next door came in and checked on most things - I actually imagine that friend and neighbour did everything!

That made me smile on a low morning !

Actually I think he did it purposely so he could get someone else to do it (?) because when they were all children my wife says they all had chores to do and one of them was getting their wash together and operating the washing machine so should have known better. They were a family of four boys with Father away at sea so all had to pull their weight.

🀣🀣🀣. Sad thing is, I don't think my hubby does it on purpose. He didn't do a thing when he lived at home and has valiantly carried on that tradition since we moved in together, apart from emptying the bins and dishwasher and mowing the lawn. Mind you, I'm the stupid one for letting him get away with it 🀣.

Yes well, Maybe take it easy and teach him slowly.

Actually makes me think of my wife's first husband when they first moved in together. Though again he was brought up to be able to do housework and chores. She used to go shopping on a Thursday - in those days the only day with late opening so would get the bus in the opposite direction from work to go into town and do her shop - Usually getting home about 6.00 instead of 5.30 if they had both caught the bus back together. She then had to carry the shopping from bus stop up the lane - possibly half a mile or slightly more to an old farm building they were renting at the time. This particular Thursday it was Autumn and just dark and getting cold and she was thinking of a nice cup of tea before starting dinner. Got in and hubby was laying on the couch watching TV - OK he's been at work too - no matter she thought. Put the shopping away and went to put the kettle on - only to find it was cold. Asked hubby - have you had a cup of tea this evening - answer. "No. I knew you would be home soon and you'd make one.! Hmmm!

Definitely decaff. On the 2 occasions they gave me the real McCoy by mistake I was like a jack hammer within half an hour.😳

Hello a quick google search on Arabic says....Fast heart rate: Arnica might increase your heart rate. Don't take arnica if you have a fast heart rate. High blood pressure: Arnica might increase blood pressure. Don't take arnica if you have high blood pressure.

Hope this helps x

Thanks, did see that but I think that was referring to arnica tablets rather than cream. I realise that some absorption with occur with the cream but not the same degree as ingesting. I also dont have high BP and didn't have a high pulse at the time. I didnt apply it before bedtime just in case so will try it again today to see what happens and if it was anything to do with that.I did think you saying "Arabic" was to do with my Suez Canal reference 🀣🀣🀣. Thanks for your help.

All is not lost. I had spells of fast HR after my first ablation. The arrythmia nurses told me to take my p.i.p. Also I think my HR was high to start with, poor little heart is in shock.

Hope it all settles soon, keep up with the great sense of humour!

Thanks. I don't have a pip as I'm just on Amiodarone. It was 58 when I woke up this morning and is now 65 - 70 so will hope it behaves now. If my thigh is anything to go by, goodness knows what my heart looks like. Hope all still good with you.😊.

That's a great analogy. Yes, the heart will be a ness too. Hadn't thought of it like that... especially the gleeful way the EP said "there was loads to do" and almost rubbed his hands together in joy!

Speaking as an advanced foot health practitioner, I can testify that it's the more tricky and involved feet that get the professional juices flowing than the bread and butter stuff so I'm guessing it was the same with your fella 🀣.

Keep keeping on and take it easy. Sounds as though all canals are flowing well!

Hi Ducky. I had loads of AF runs in the first 8 days - I got really upset about it! You can also expect higher HR, which feels very weird if you're normally in the 50s and 60s. My HR is beginning to settle down now after 3 weeks - mostly it's 10BPM higher rather than 20. The arrythmia nurse explained to me that during this time our heart is 'remodelling' and that's why we need to take it easy. Getting your heart used to gentle exercise is OK I think but if you are only 7 days in probably good to take it really slowly.

Thanks. Having read everything, at least it wasn't a shock and I'm not stressing about it. I think it's just elevated pulse rather than AF as I can feel my pulse in my wrist quite strongly whereas when I'm in AF, I can barely make out a pulse. Exercise is well away from my thoughts (to be honest, it's never at the forefront of my thoughts anyway 😁) I have had a little walk round Tesco for about 25 mins on Weds and about 25 mins round Aldi yesterday, all slow, gentle, flat and hubby lifting and packing etc. Going nowhere today as taking a Furusemide this morning as puffy ankles, probably due to fluid retention due to all the bruising and also lack of moving about. All good fun eh?😊.
