As you also have AF then could be genetic predisposition and unfortunately that’s not something we can do anything about. I hope she is receiving good care.
Yes this does happen. The first person I ever knew with AF was a friend who was fit and healthy in every other respect - exercised well but not too much never drank alcohol, tea or coffee and was never overweight unfortunately for her she developed AF in her early late 50's to early 60's. Her Father's side of the family all had heart disease with her Grandmother and Grandfather dying just in their 60's and her Father dying from heart disease at 52.
