Hi Flowerlad1.

TBH I shouldn't worry to much - we've all done it ! However to double check maybe you could call your pharmacist - I'm sure they will tell you how best to proceed.

thank you so much for your response. !!!!! I don't like taking it anyway... and then to take one 9 hours early is terrifying.... ;(

Yep FL1. I know what you mean - it's always a worry when you get your pills mixed up.

If you have concerns then please contact your medic. I'm not medically qualified so I'm unable to tell you what to do. For me (personally) I wouldn't be to bothered. However I'm not trained to give medicial advice. As above why not try and contact your pharmacist ? They will be better off to tell you what to do than I.

I think you'll be ok. The worse thing you can do is panic about it. Have a good nights kip - read a book or listen to some relaxing music.

I think you will be fine - just fine ;-)

Best,

Paul

Why don't you try a pharmacist at a chemist like Boots or Lewis Day. It doesn't have to be your own pharmacist.

yes very true....

I've just copied this for you from our official UK information site:

If the person has taken a double dose of rivaroxaban (Xarelto):

For a twice-daily dosing regimen of rivaroxaban, they should omit the next planned dose (that is, after 12 hours) and resume treatment as normal 24 hours after the double dose intake.

For a once-daily dosing regimen of rivaroxaban, they should take the next dose as normal the following day.

However, I would still want to seek the advice of a pharmacist or your doctor.

thank you Jean...... I thought about contacting the pharmacy.... not sure much can be done..... only if something happens.... i've read its more dangerous not to take it than to take too much... its only about 9 h ours early.... :( have a wonderful day!!!

You would feel more relaxed if experts told you all was ok. Go on give a quick call to the pharmacy.

Your emoji made me laugh.

Aha, at some stage I suspect many of us have messed up like this ! Mine come marked in a strip marked by the day , I put them in the breakfast table & eat after breakfast, but believe me there are still the odd days when I have got out of synch . Hope that you are feeling OK ✅?

I did that last week. I am normally very organised but we stayed the night with my daughter (we are in a bubble) and she gave me two of her Apixaban for that evening and the next morning. The next night in the early hours, I awoke, 'have I taken my tablets?' and took the two extra Apixaban that were in my pill box having already taken that evening's dose of one plus amlodipine. I was horrified and looked online, and skipped that morning's dose. Lesson learnt, don't keep extra tablets in pill box!

Don’t worry. No need to call your pharmacist. Slightly over anti coagulated but just continue with your normal regime. Try and take it at a routine time with all your other tablets?

Assume you are OK as I am reading your post 19 hours later but no 1 in anything like this is to read the leaflet that comes with the tablets. Overdose and underside are usually in there. If you cannot find your leaflet they are always available on the web

I have done this and I didn’t take the evening dose I just took my next dose the next evening and I was ok but It maybe advisable to ask the pharmacy just to put your mind at rest

You say you take it at night, are you aware that Xeralto should be taken with food i.e after your main meal of the day. It clearly states it on the leaflet. I take mine after my evening meal. A couple of times I have not been sure if I had taken it or not - so did not take another one. I worried for the next 24 hours until my next dose.

flowerlad1 in reply to cassie46

yes I take mine shortly after i have eaten.... if i think i forgot i do the same thing wait till the next dosing time.,,. i've been worried all day yesterday and last night better this morning will take the right one tonight!

I make up a dosette box every Sunday night to prevent this kind of thing happening. Might want to try it. Xx

Yes, it happens to all of us! When I friend called me about her same fears over something she took, I suggested drinking lots of water to dilute and get it out of her system quicker. Maybe it might help in your situation. As others commented, perhaps a call to your pharmacy or doctor would alleviate your fears. You're probably a-okay though.
