Just wanted a bit of advice really. I have developed quite a tender lump in my groin, just above where the puncture wound is. It’s sore to touch but fine when I’m not moving around.
Those with experience - is this normal? I know it’s been less than a week, and didn’t want to bother the hospital yet. I will contact them if it gets worse though.
Thanks in advance. 😊

Sounds about right to me but if it get worse or starts to leak or anything like that please contact your arrhythma nurse where it was done. Most people have some really spectaular and colourful bruising which can take several weeks to fade away.
I talked to my arrythmia nurse as no one warned me of this affect from the catheter wound area & they said exactly what Bob said. I was completely unprepared for how big it would get or how long it would take to go so I after 2 weeks I saw my GP who reassured me it was perfectly normal.
Yes, I had a lump after one of my ablations. I was convinced they'd left something behind in me. My GP assured me all was ok, but still I worried and went to A&E where once again I was told all was well.
As CDreamer said they're called haematoma's and are quite common.
I have to say I don't remember mine being sore though.
Yes it happened to me every time. Should be nothing to worry about unless it gets larger or shows any sign of infection.
You should have been given a number to call when you were discharged. If you are in any way concerned you can call that number they won’t mind that’s what the number is for.
Colourful. It was about width and length of a spread out palm and it was a week before I could walk without pain! And they told me I could run after 48 hours! As if! I'm thinking three months...
Two weeks today and feeling less fai t and less jelly legs on my tiny walks!
My most recent ablation in March left the tiniest of scars and no bruising, this was a first.
In the past there has been some awful bruising and lumps. They all eventually disappear but I would advise to try not to keep checking and touching, bathe the area 1/2 times a day and as JeanJeanie said go commando for as long as you can. Nice and cool at this time of the year. I do hope it has gone well for you.
Thank you. Yes that is definitely good advice. I haven’t been bathing it other than normal showering as the scab has only just formed and I’m so scared of knocking it off. Just very gentle at the moment I think!
I was told to bathe it at least once a day, no soap, just tepid water, I used a cotton wool pad, and then another one to dry which was much gentler than a towel. Take care.
