Hi everybody. I had my first appointment with an EP this week (telephone appt) and he has prescribed Sotalol to deal with recurrent Flutter episodes. These happen every couple of weeks with high HR up to 150 bpm come out of the blue and at rest with duration no more than a couple of hours generally. I have captured these on my Kardia and the EP has requested copies.
Can I ask if anybody has used Sotalol and how they got on with it. To date I have been taking Bisoprolol which does slow HR down but has not stopped the episodes as described. Given it was the first appointment with the EP we did discuss ablation etc but Sotalol seems to be the standard first approach. I should add I am on Apixaban to cover the anti coagulation angle.
Grateful for any advice or experience you can give.

Hi I've been on sotalol for just 2 weeks now as bisoprolol was having no effect after a month, of episodes of AF upto 150bpm at rest, sotolol has brought me back to NSR but my beats are still chaotic, awaiting another cardioversion, then later Ablation, I'm on apaxiban aswell, I still get lightheaded, sometimes weak, I'm 50yr old ladyI'm wondering after my cardioversion will I still be on sotalol and apaxiban
Thanks for the reply as indicated I am at the early stages having just had my first EP appt. I will wait for his analysis of my Kardia ECG traces as to what happens next. Most of the replies on Sotalol seem positive from the recent thread but doesn't suit everybody. Would be interested to know how you fair with the drug and whether it stops/reduces your AF episodes. Thanks
