Hi all,

Went for my ablation at Leeds today. I was first in so walked down at 8.30. No messing about i was in my sexy gown at 8.45am. As I'm a complicated case the scheduled the morning for me.

Soooooo. . . Obviously nothing set in stone but what I recall my EP saying is he tidied up the previous 2 ablations and nothing sinister going on just activity in the atria as we knew.. I accepted a while ago I will never be 'cured' but if the symtoms have been made livable I will cope. I'm not been pessimistic just in my case realistic. Think I will find the frequent PACs hard to deal with but they are harmless so again will just have to get on with it. I am in a MUCH better place that u was 5 years ago so I've a lot to ne happy about.

Think it was apx 4 hours and I was soo hungry... I was like a piglet, I ate 6 yes 6 packs of mini biscuits they give you , a sandwich and something that looked like an omelette. So all good.πŸ–πŸ·

I'm so happy also that I CAN have my jab tomorrow, my other half is looking after me so if i feel rough he can look after me.( even I i feel ok I won't disclose that information then I can still be pampered...I'm terrible!!)

Right I'm shattered now but just again wanted to thank you all for you help these last few weeks especially re. All my worries.

Oh the covid protection was great, felt very safe xx

Love to all

I am on the waiting list for an ablation at Leeds. Still in two minds though. You seemed happy (as far as you can be in these circumstances) with the Department. Was the care etc good ?

Hope the procedure was a success and you don’t feel too bad today

Hi please don't be in two minds and grab the appointment. I cancelled 2 ablations in the early days as I was so scared, if I had dealt with it earlier my arrythmia may not be so complex now. Covid care was excellent, read my previous posts and I got some fabulous advice regarding covid . I was tested 3 times whilst I was in there and the nurses are tested everyday now. I didn't feel any fear at all. Please email me anytime and if I can help in anyway I will xxxx

Thank you. I have read some of your previous posts. Dr Graham has a very good reputation I am with someone called Ben Mercer. I have lone paroxyl af and so the decision is difficult because 90% of the time I am fine. I have put the ablation on hold until the nhs is getting back to normal levels. Given me time to consider but still in two minds. Hope you are recovering ok

Hi Jane, Dr Tajabee did this ablation, I think it's who ever is free on the day as I had a general too.But they are all excellent from the reports I have read.

I personally would take the ablation as soon as offered, to be honest it was much quieter than normal in the wards and seemed less stressful. Also the waiting list will be crazy when things get back to normal I imagine. But I truly understand the should I?...shouldn't I ? Sara xxx

hi, i had my 3rd ablation 3 years ago, & i have to say i haven't looked back really, all has been fine so far, no wonky ticker to speak of!! i felt the care i had was second to none, they were all really lovely, my only gripe was that i live in york & its a bind getting to leeds. only a small thing really. so i would certainly grab it while you can!! good luck to you whatever you decide, judy

If it’s any help, I suffered from AF for over 20 years, during which time I had 3 ablation procedures. I am still on Flecainide Acetate twice a day, but since the third ablation six or seven years ago, I have not had an AF episode. I don’t mention it much, as I don’t want to tempt providence, but I hope that this gives you some encouragement that you may now have suffered your last AF attack. Good luck!
