Hi, I’m new to this so I’m sorry if this is in the wrong place. I was diagnosed with MVP 10 years ago with mild regurgitation. I also have first degree heartblock though I understand that’s trivial. I have the annual free flu vaccines and have had the pneumonia vaccine etc and have an annual hospital check including echo etc, I’m 39.
My GP surgery yesterday said I don’t qualify for group 6 underlying conditions to have a vaccine.
I’m just a little anxious as I have 2 primary children who go back in a few weeks and was hoping I’d have this little bit of protection.
Has anyone else with Mitral Valve Prolapse been offered a vaccine? Is this right? Thank you

Thanks CDreamer I’ve gone over both lists and neither give a specific conditions so I think it’s ultimately up to the GPs discretion. It’s so confusing. I wish they’d just give a specific list but I guess there’s just too much out there.
When the shielding programme started and went to look at all of the detailed conditions to work out if I was expecting to receive a shielding letter and MVP wasn’t in the detailed list of conditions. I qualify for the underlying conditions for the vaccine because of my asthma.
That said, I think some health authorities and surgeries are moving through their lists quicker than others and so are moving onto the next groups, so hopefully you get your text / letter soon!
I have mitral valve prolapse and have had 2 Pfizer jabs.
Thanks very much! Were you flagged on the GP system already or did you have to ask for it?
I was already on the system for the vaccine, I was wary because I have SVT and heart block but I was ok after the first one the second did give me palpitations the next day.
