Covid Vaccine Cohort 6 - Clinically Vulnerable (underlying conditions)

According to this published on the gov website AF is an underlying condition coming under Chronic Heart Disease, see table 3,

assets.publishing.service.g...

so does that mean those age 16-64 with AF are in Cohort 6! Apparently GP practices are being told to start concentrating on this cohort from tomorrow (so NHS website says england.nhs.uk/2021/02/nhs-... )

I'm 65 with AF and I've not had anything yet but my neighbour who has no medical issues has had her letter and is booked in for this week 🤷‍♀️

Think for clinically vulnerable cohort it will be contact by text or call from GP! My husband who is 67 (no medial issues) had his letter yesterday and is booked in on Tuesday at Boots near us! I’m 63, so hoping I’ll hear after tomorrow!

Seems to be hit and miss who gets called up and when, my brother in law 68 with AF had his about 3 weeks ago ! I can't say I'm looking forward to it so don't mind waiting a bit longer.

Think you're right, someone I know who is 65 had hers yesterday and no underlying conditions.

Yes I agree with you. I know 3 or 4 people who are younger than me, who have conditions that put them at risk, but who haven't got the jab yet. I am 73, but I got it when the over 80s got it, and I really didn't think I was that much at risk, despite having AF

My husband is 65, got his letter Saturday and waiting for GP to contact him. I’m 63 but wasn’t sure if I’d get called.

If he is 65 you can go to nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir... and book an appointment at a centre or pharmacy he doesn’t need to wait for GP to contact him unless he wants to!

You don’t actually need a letter in order to book via the NHS vaccine website. If you are 65 or over you can simply book a slot for vaccination.

I did receive a letter but there was no reference on, or to, the letter when booking. I mentioned this to one of my neighbours who is a similar age to me. She had not received a letter but was able to book a slot for tomorrow.

Yes we can book now online but last week we couldn't.

Indeed. When I tried to make a booking on Friday morning it still said 70 and above. That was changed to 65 and above sometime on Friday afternoon.

Yes, although clinically vulnerable (underlying conditions) can’t book online yet!

My wife at 64 (65 soon) is still waiting to be called. There is an element of post code lottery as they were nearly a month late starting down here in Devon.

South coast is ahead of schedule & started Level 6 last week. It really depends on how proactive the GP practices were & numbers as far as I could see. Areas with smaller populations took longer to get going.

Nationwide there does seem to be variance but only by a week or so - compared to many countries we seem to be well ahead of the curve.

“does that mean those age 16-64 with AF are in Cohort 6?”

Yes it means exactly that.

My sister (58) was vaccinated yesterday. My husband (who is keeping a very detailed graph) was wondering if she was called early due to her husband having lupus nephritis.

It's still quite confusing from what I can tell. I asked my GP last week and they said AF (and arrhythmia in general) didn't necessarily qualify, but that other heart conditions (such as heart failure) did. She also said that the government keep updating the finer details, so I would suggest we all have to politely remind our healthcare providers that we exist. All involved seem to be running flat out so it's easy to imagine some people inadvertently falling through the cracks.

You’re right it is confusing, this is the only thing I’ve found that actually stated AF being a condition that fell into the clinically vulnerable (underlying conditions) cohort! Suppose we just all have to be patient and just give our GPS a little nudge if need be (politely of course).

They seem to be sticking to age groups around here. I'm 67 with AF and got my letter at the weekend, getting stuck on Wednesday. A friend of mine who's 66 with no health issues at all got his letter last Thursday for a jab on Saturday.

Had my jab this morning, no problems at all so far. I've seen a couple of posts from people concerned about being asked if they're on anticoagulants and a suggestion that warfarin may be a problem. Unfortunately, I can't find the posts I saw. If you're concerned about this, there's no need to be; I'm on warfarin and when I confirmed this, I was asked what my last INR was, 3.3, and was told that that wasn't a problem. The only difference seems to be that they insisted that I sat and waited for 15 mins, after the jab, despite the fact that my wife was waiting in the car for me and was going to drive me home. When my wife, who isn't on anticoagulants had her jab, she was allowed to go straight after because I was driving her home.

Yes. That's how I have read it o the BHF web site. Sat here waiting for the call now they have started the over 65s!

It’s all getting very confusing first told af not a problem now it’s on the new data that they have reassessed.Yesterday read a bbc article thousands asthmatics wouldn’t get vaccine as thought in group 6 and now just read new publication on nhs and asthma with combined inhaled medication is also on that list.

Hope so as I’m 50 would rather have sooner than later!
