Feeling the cold

Since my Afib episode back in Feb. 2020, I really seem to feel the cold more than I ever used to. Is this normal or associated with AFib and does it ever improve or is it probably not connected?

If you are taking a beta blocker such as Bisoprolol, it can slow the heart rate and lead to cold feet and hands. Normal sinus rhythm shouldn't cause us to feel cold - is your blood pressure OK as low BP makes me cold.

Hi Paul, I experienced the same for years while I had afib. My feet and hands especially used to feel the cold where I had always been a hot bod most of my life.I asked and was told its was to do with the heart and medication, in did notice when I was on bisoprolol it was more pronounced.

Glad to say after a successful ablation in 2019 I'm beta blocker free and warm as toast again. Can even stand the cold.

What did he say it was to do with the heart why you get cold feet and hands?

Bisop makes the heart beat not as hard as it should Pad, thats how he explained it to me, and also if your in afib the heart isn't beating as it should so blood goes to the heart, diverting from extremities, so you become cold due to less blood at those points, just the body being clever making changes to protect itself .

I experienced the same change from usually hot to usually cold, which I put down to the Flecainide I have take for 7 yrs. Recently I have managed to compensate for some of that by improving my breathing; I have adopted just breathing through the nose day & night per James Nestor & Patrick Mckewoan, see YouTube for more details.

It's the same for me since taking bisoprolol, especially feet and hands (the tips are frozen!). I guess it's due to low BP and slow heart rate.

If on bisoprolol or other beta blockers expect cold nose, toes, fingers etc. It seems to cut blood flow to the extremeties. It badly affected a minor skin condition and led to horrible cracks in the skin on my hands.
