Does anyone else feel cold a lot of the time? I'm OK if I'm moving about, but if I sit for more than 10 minutes, I start feeling really cold although the room temperature is 21°
I'm blaming meds. Apixaban, slozem and candersartin. I have plenty of clothes on, but still feel cold.
How do others feel?
This happend to me as I got older. Strangely the A/c in my car is set at 20 but less than 22 when I am watching TV and I need an extra layer on. Even more strange is that this time of year my workshop is around 12 degrees and I have the same layers as when watching TV. Think it depends on what we are doing.
Hi Polly, I used to feel exactly the same until my thyroid was found to be under-active. Have been fine since taking medication to correct this. Have you had yours checked recently?

I have had it checked lots of times over the years and it comes back OK
My GP told me mine was ok, but I had a test at hospital once and they wrote to my GP telling him I needed to be taking thyroid medication.
Make sure your feet are always warm. I bought some wool lined moccasin sheepskin slippers off a site on the internet and love them. On the very rare occasions I get cold now I pop some fleece gloves on for a few minutes.
A friend bought a special electric blanket that's made to be used when sitting, she swears by it.

My husband proceeded me with heart failure by a number of years and we spent the last few with him putting up the central heating temp and me waiting till he wasn't looking and turning it down. Now I have heart failure I don't touch it. I understand this kind of cold which has nothing to do with the ambient temperature but to do with the heart or the affect of meds taken for the heart. I'm pleased he pays the bills!!!!!!!! 🤗
Funny you should say that.......... 🙄 My husband (86 soon) - I'm quite a bit younger, had a heart attack in 2012 and has never really recovered to full health. He is always cold, but he never moves around much (his choice, not medical) so the heating is up more than I think it should be
Yes I've read, reread but just filed them away. After all it's the way things are. I was so ill last year no side effects want me to go back there. If I feel the cold at least I'm now in sync with my husband. Peace and Goodwill reigns 😔
I do not tolerate the cold or extreme heat as much. Im 66 and I think my betablocker ( metoprolol) plays a role in my cold feet.

I have been on metoprolol for over 6 years and always need to have warm clothes on (except in temps of 25 degrees plus+!!). Its not just my feet that are cold but often my nose is absolutely freezing, when I am watching TV, and i have to hold it with my finger and thumb, or pull my jumper up over it.
At this moment I have a vest/base layer/thin cashmere top and fleece hoody on!!
I am sure it's either med or heart related or a bit of both : (

Hi, I take Slozem 120 and feel the cold, I find wearing cuddly boots or putting blanket over my knees seems to keep the rest of me warm! I also find that if I am tired I feel the cold more, in fact I have had a few occasions when I couldn't get warm no matter what I did, usually followed by frequent peeing so definitely caused by 'distressed heart'.
I'm so pleased you raised this topic of feeling cold. I'm in a long warm dressing gown in the middle of the afternoon, my husband is tucked up in bed, and reading the posts this afternoon has made me smile as I imagine all these people with fluffy socks, thick jumpers covering their hands and noses as well as hoodies. Lovely! I'm not alone feeling cold! The Dr. Just came to check on my husband. He did ask how I was. Now I think it was was the thick dressing gown that did it!!!! 😨
I think this may just be another symptom of heart and circulation problems. I too am always cold and have learned to keep the feet warm and I put my dressing gown on over my clothes for that extra layer. The upside of this is that any "cold callers" automatically think that you aren't well so leave you in peace!

Same as most of the replies. Probably a combination of below average circulation, drugs and getting older - suspect drugs (in my case Flecainide) mainly. Also, I am thinner than I was.
I have always felt the cold even as a youngster, but much worse as I aged. To keep going is the answer, but that makes you tired and when you rest you get cold...…….So a vicious circle, I do agree that fluffy boots and thermal underwear are very helpful, if not as stylish as we once were!
I’ve felt the cold 🥶 since I was a little girl. Now, if I’ve been watching TV for more than 30 minutes, then I watch Tv standing up, while performing some simple spinal stretches ,etc and it gets my poor circulation working...
I was on Bisoprolol for several years and my hands, feet and nose were always cold unless I was in the tropics. My feet and hands would ache with it, always wore gloves outdoors (I live in north of Scotland) 5 months after 3rd and final successful ablation I weaned off all the drugs apart from Rivaroxaban and slowly there has been an improvement in hands, feet etc. Seldom feel cold now.
Since my ablation last March 2017 I too feel the cold and for the first time in my life this winter each time I go out or the heating goes off on timer, my fingers go white with cold and I can't feel them. Likewise when I go round the supermarket and I keep saying to the checkout girls have they turned off the heating as I find it difficult to pack the shopping and take the money out of my purse. It's so painful when they start coming back to life as well.
I have always felt the cold, but even more so now with meds. I have several layers on at all times and like the others frequently have a thick dressing gown on in the middle of the day rather than have the central heating back on. Even when in Spain in summer if there is a slight breeze I need something over my shoulders. It isn't my imagination either, my family touch me and always exclaim that I am very cold.
Slizem is diltiazem?. I think that made me feel a bit cold. Slows your heart rate- possibly he cause??
I have put being cold down to taking blood thinners. Like many it’s my nose which really suffers! Just another of the side effects of this cocktail of drugs we take daily as sufferers of AF.
I definitely feel colder than I used to, especially in my extremities. I attribute it to poor circulation and a more sedentary lifestyle -- my energy level is so low a lot of the time.
It happens to my Husband a lot ...it isn't the Candesarten as he's been on it for years before he was diagnosed with AF & never had a cold issue ....probably Beta blockers ....his hands were that cold this morning I nearly had him make some pastry for me!
