Hi haven’t been on for a while but have just started another afib episode first one since diagnosis two years ago. So far 48 hours on and off. Heart rate never seems to be higher than 80 but Preventicus Heartbeats says I am in full afib is this right.? I can feel my heart flip flopping and have a slight headache and some sweating but otherwise nothing. I take Sotalol and Riveroxaban. Do I need to see my gp?? Any advice gratefully received.

Hello, sorry to hear your not feeling well. I would strongly advise contacting your GP or phoning 111 for some advice, 48 hrs is a long time to be feeling they way you have been. Get some advice at least then you will have some guidance as to how best to proceed. Thinking of you, take care and don’t worry about contacting the 111 service or your GP they are there to help us.Hope all goes well , best wishes.
Shirley
Difficult to count HR accurately while in AF and the fact you are sweating and have a headache suggests you should take advice.
It's a new one on me

I have this on my phone and use it to keep a record of my AF episodes. It gives a stylised picture rather than an ECG trace, but seems accurate in identifying AF. I find it useful and easy to use. Never seen it mentioned on here before. Available for Android phones and apple, from the usual app stores.
Glad to see you are going to speak to your GP. I hope you feel better soon. My AF is very different from yours, when it comes, giving me higher rates than 170bpm and lasting anything from 4 to 12 hours only.
I too had never heard of Preventicus, so I looked at the advert on YouTube Physalis linked to (thanks). It uses the camera phone to detect the slight reddening of the capillaries in your finger to sense your pulse, similar to the watch based heart rate monitors, but this one can see arrhythmias which a sports watch would filter out. The problem I can see with this is that not all heart beats generate a pulse when you are in AF. A heart beat too soon will be on an empty or reduced capacity heart that will not pump up the blood vessels sufficiently to be seen. The device will then under read the rate, by quite a large factor?
My FitBit Charge2 heart rate monitor shows about 76bpm when my Kardia tell me my heart is trying to fibrillate at over 180bpm. I suspect that this might have a similar problem. OTOH, no 'gadget' is needed, and the phone will always be with you. My Kardia doesn't work at all with my latest phone, although it was fine with the previous three phones I owned. I might just put this app on anyway, to give it a try.
