I have been taking bisoporal 1.25mg and apixiban with a PIP of felcanide for about 3 years and only have an episode about once or twice a year. I walk the dog most days and have found that walking up hills is a problem which it wasn’t before and lately noticed this feeling in the base of my throat and the need to take a deep breath occasionally. This feeling comes a s goes. I have read on the site about bisoporol from a number of you. I don’t know whether this is due to me being anxious ??

If you are taking Bisoprolol then it could well be that which is causing the breathlessness on exertion, simply because it’s a beta blocker and designed to slow your HR so your HR can’t keep up, and lots of hills in Devon.

Unfortunately, AF will cause similar symptoms but if you are in AF only very occasionally, my guess would be the Biso.

Can’t comment on the feeling in the base of the throat but have heard people reporting similar in other posts.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, I will talk to my GP or cardiologist whoever I can get hold of first 🙂

I was only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol and became out of breath on flights of stairs and hills. I stopped taking it some months ago and now take one as a PiP along with flecainide. If this breathlessness has only developed very recently then it could be anxiety. Have you have developed a fear of having an episode?

I get that tight feeling mainly during episodes and can’t ‘do stairs’. My cardiologist says it isn’t classic angina because my arteries are clear, it’s lack of capacity, not sure if that means I’m very unfit (true!). However you aren’t doing anything different from usual so it’s best to get checked out 💜

I am just wondering how you know that you have episodes only once or twice a year? Those would definitely be the symptomatic ones. What about any asymptomatic ones? Do you think, perhaps, the disease may have progressed? Also, if you have difficulties walking up hills, how is your blood pressure? It sounds as if you need a re-evaluation of what stage you are at.

I have PAF, and I know what you mean about the throat. Very often a pre cursor to af is heartburn, throat pain and a feeling of tightness, unless it is just anxiety, it's hard to say. During episode I always get throat pain.
