Can anyone tell me if turmeric capsules interfere with anticoagulants or beta blockers? Probably a silly question, because it’s in curries, and I eat them occasionally. Have got sore joints, and this is supposed to help. Thanks to anyone who answers.

Above is a post from 3 years ago on the topic of turmeric. I also like to take it, but only take a little bit (I put a very small amount in my daily decaf tea.) One time when visiting my cardiologist, I was told that they have "quite a few" patients that take turmeric and suggested that it might be best to not take it right after taking your anticoagulant.
I have found turmeric to be effective with joints generally and took it in fairly strong form but, I have been advised to moderate it allot as it does clash with anticoagulants
I don’t thing that you will find a definitive answer anywhere, however, it’s not something I would take in capsule form. I take Tumeric latte, as a tea, I even make a Tumeric cake from the fresh root. As a food it’s great - I stay well away from the capsules as they contain a concentrated form of the active ingredient Curcumin which is a most powerful anti-inflammatory but also may increase anticoagulation affect. So yes, it’s a possibility it could interfere with both or more accurately may increase the affect of both which would not be good.
You would have to eat the equivalent of 8g of Tumeric to absorb the same amount of Curcumin than you is contained in 1 capsule.
Thanks for that CDreamer. That settles it for me. I won’t take the capsules, just put some in my food.
