Hi everyone, I've been diagnosed with AFib for 4 months now im taking the standard precautionary apixaban to thin my blood and also a beta blocker to slow down my heart beat.
Unfortunately I've got a bad reoccurrence of a back spinal injury but my AFib medication doesn't allow me to take Ibuprofen, can anyone please advise what options I have to take an alternative anti-inflamatory medication, something stronger than paracetamol.
Thank you.

My sympathies Visacrem - I'm recovering from a bad back injury two months ago. My painkillers were prescribed by my doc - 30/500mg Co-codamol and a couple of strange muscle relaxants called Baclofen and Gabapentin. The high dose co-codamol took the edge off the pain and the Baclofen made me very sleepy. Gabapentin, I didn't try as the main side effects scared me off.
If you have very localised pain, you could ask your doc or pharmacist about using an anti-inflammatory gel in small quantities. I found that alternating ice and heat treatment also helped.
Hi there Visacrem,I use CoCodomol 30/500 .... which are only available on prescription. I have used this stuff for a long time, mostly to deal with Si joint ( sacriilliac joint) pain and osteoarthritis in knee and shoulders.
Must say in the end I ended up having a partial knee replacement but yet again, dealing with the post op pain and for the following few months until it all settled down.
The osteoarthritis in shoulders is now an ongoing saga.
