I always wondered why ablations only have a 70% success rate for Afib ? But when you look at the success rate for ablations for SVT and VT the success rate is much higher.

That is because there are less focii to ablate with those arrhythmias than AF.

Unfortunately that was not the case in my situation. Tried ablation for persistent nagging PACs. The whole time I was under the doctor could not get one misfire. Just my luck. Tried for an hour and a half even adrenaline no bueno. He said we could try again in 3 months if it keeps up. Going to change medications also.

My EP told me that ablation for typical AFlutter has a success rate in the high 90%'s as it is caused by a circuit in the right atrium which can be zapped more easily than AF foci which can be all over the place.
