Cryo Ablation next week
You will be fine. read the two facts sheets and do as you are told. Cath lab is one of the safest places on the planet.
heartrhythmalliance.org/res... and heartrhythmalliance.org/res....
I live in a house with five levels and no loo on any level I am on! Maybe peg leg up and down Very Slowly!
Hi there! Agree with Bob. You will be fine. Read the two fact sheets. Had mine end of September. Too early to say if it’s a success or not. But having gone through one I will recommend it in a heartbeat! Provided your EP said you are good candidate for it. I am feeling fine since. No AF or ectopics. All the best for your procedure.
Maddiegran, my cryo nearly 2 years ago went very well and was a total life changer. Hope yours will be the same. Worst part was being in shared hospital room overnight but that was over soon. Wishing you an uneventful procedure that does the trick!
So far 2 years 9 months without afib since my PVI Cryo ablation Hopefully yours will be as good so that is what you need to focus on.
The cold/pain is only a few seconds for each pulmonary vein. It's just like the brain freeze when you bite into a cold ice cream. That's where you feel it, not in your chests so don't worry.
Best wishes
Hiya
Had mine 5.5 MTHS ago and it was very easy. Dentist is far worse. No real pain just some weird sensations. And time flew past. Try not to worry (says she who was shaking with fear!) Xx
I'll be the same when it's my turn! I tend to overthink things and gallop off into the sunset of despair quickly..
There is a lot of experience and advice on here though which helps people like me rationalise our fears. Always someone up and about here.
It'll be done and dusted before you know it and better for it .
Best wishes xx
Hi Maddie
I’m now 4 weeks post ablation.....and I have no regrets about having it done .....not one episode of AFib since then ! Early days, I know, but so far so good 😊
To echo what all the others have said.....rest, rest rest, is the best way to recover 😊
Awe Maddie Gran please don’t fret, actually we have all been you when we were getting close yo the ablation...I think we all think oh god it’s my heart and that’s what makes Us all go into such a worry.....but trust me when you walk into the hospital and you are suddenly part of the professional caring staff all your fretting will kind of wash away, you won’t feel scared.....and then not much longer...it will be over.....then you must rest rest rest....
I’m two years in and it was the best thing I ever did....seven months after this ablation I dud a long haul flight.
So chin up......take heart that plenty of us have been in your shoes ........as. On says read those facts sheet s they are helpful.
Onwards and upwards. And keep in touch,
Sue
Please don't overthink it. Says someone who has already been there! I hated the episodes and the horrible meds I was on so much that it was easy to agree to the procedure. Not nearly what I thought it would be. Agree with the others, rest, rest, rest following. I had a few silent migraines, soreness from the catheter and just needed to take it easy. Not to worry if your not 100% right away. I had mine done in August this year. I was asleep so I'm not familiar with the other sensations. Here in the US I think most EP's put you to sleep. Hope you have a easy go of it!!
Thank you. What is silent about a migraine? I wonder what “rest” is? I live in an old house with 5 levels, no loo anywhere I can sit/sleep. I guess it means try hard to minimise the stairs (cross my legs!). And letting my long suffering husband cook and clean for a few days?
I think general anaesthetic would be preferable for a wuss like me but they are very reluctant in UK - some risks, and they want me out ASAP with Covid around.
In 2019 I had such awful (and disabling and painful) complications from a hip revision due to some structural peculiarities of my back and hip, I am not keen on going near “procedures”, however good my consultant or the team (and they are very good).
For me, a silent migraine is when I have the auras and blind spots without the pain. They are discussed in the materials available on this site. Again for me, rest is just that, rest. I did cleaning and laundry, shopping and making sure there was plenty of easy prep food in the house before my procedure. That way I could just take it easy for a while. If you are accustomed to stairs for the bathroom, you should be in pretty good shape and have no problem.
Thanks for the info. I am in lousy shape, but I’ll live. House was sold but taken off market just before first Covid lockdown. Hopelessly impractical for elderly.
Hoping all will be better soon. 🙂
Have not done cryo but quite a few visits to the cath lab... it is quite doable! They'll take good care of you and once you've made the decision to go, the largest hurdle has been jumped. Best wishes!
