Af in children

I'm looking for advise my granddaughter who is 7 has had episodes with her heart for the last 3vyears. Fast heartbeat pain and she always looks pasty and somewhat out of it. They don't happen often but yesterday at school she had one which lasted over 20 mins but unfortunately she had recovered before the ambulance arrived although the ecg did show something. My suggestion that she has af has been dismissed saying she is too young to have it. My question is do any of you know of any cases in children this young.

Yes. My god daughter has super ventricular tachycardia, has had it since she was 4. She is now 10 and almost at the right weight to have an ablation.

She has been on flecanide in liquid form since 4 years old.

Stand your ground and get her checked out.xxx

Hello Ryan 😊 please do not let anyone dismiss this, it could be any number of things but whatever it is or isn't it needs checking out and tests including an Echocardiogram.

You may have to push for this but don't be put off.

Wishing your granddaughter well.

I am sorry to hear your granddaughter (and the family) is going through this. Yes, I have heard of this (or similar). A work colleague from many years ago and I got back in touch and we were exchanging stories about our daughters' heart problems. His daughter's heart was beating 'at a very fast rate with only mild activity. She had nodes ablated during a number of procedures which were to provide corrective measures'. She now has a pacemaker. She was a child when all this started and became so interested in all the procedures that she studied and gained a biomedical degree and is now doing a masters in cardiology!

I agree, your daughter needs to keep pushing. My best wishes.
