I´m really confused, my Cardiologist prescribed me Buscopan, and as I read the side effect I got frightened, I don't have any stomach/digestion problems!!! any body is taking it. Thanks.
Buscopan: I´m really confused, my... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Buscopan
Can't comment on this except ........ does food trigger any Flutter or Fibrillation events ?
Thanks, perhaps that is the reason for his choice but I don't know if food trigger my AF but I know the side effects of that would send me to ED for sure. It did when my GP indicate me to take Iron pills...end up with a blockage...no good at all.
I would query it with your cardiologist or your GP and ask for his reasoning, especially if they didn’t explain it to you at the time. Mistakes have been known to happen!
It’s a med contraindicated for me but not because of AF. It’s an anti-spasmodic med which works on smooth muscle such as bowel.
Thanks, CDreamer...well, I suffer from constipation as it is. That was one of the main reason I haven't take it...Go to see my GP soon and I will ask her opinion. Always is good to talk her with people with experiences even though not all are medics...Experience is, sometime, very helpful
Not recommended for heart patients as it can be a trigger, during my pre op assessment last week I told the nurse that during a previous MRI I had been given Buscpan and it had sent me into AF immediately, she was shocked that the technicians didn't know Buscopan is contraindicated!!
I learned from my grandmother and mother to always have buscopan at home. Kids especially are prone to stomach aches at night and 1 tablet will sort them out quickly.
I too would nor hesitate to take one if needed. Never had any problems at all.
If everybody had to read the contra indications on leaflets then not even placebos would be taken. Many of us take Flecainide and just look how scary the leaflet reads and it has a black label warning with a skull and crossbones to boot. A perfect Halloween scary item. He he he.
Hello Palpman, may be I will give it a try since I trust my cardiologist. Perhaps the side effects noted are exaggerated just to be in te safe side? Thanks
Buscapan is contraindicated for Myasthenia. I’m really pleased I was advised not to take it under any circumstances when I needed an anti-spasmodic - and not to be given to children under 6 years - just in case someone did take your comments literally and gave to a child.
I had a CT colonoscopy and was supposed to have buscopan to sedate my bowel but they asked if I had any heart problems and I said ‘only AF’ thinking they meant circulatory problems but they were very firm that I couldn’t have it. I would query the prescription.
