AF and Exercise

Hi all

Can I ask for anyone that exercise do any of you take any pre workout or post workouts or do any of you have anything caffeine free or eat anything natural before or after workout?

I’m trying to find this out as I don’t want to take nothing that got caffeine or any nasties for my heart

And another question on the day I train I have the most awful sleep, because maybe my body still on alert

I wonder if taking beta blockers and exercise messes up your adrenaline and noradreline inside you?

I am not on beta blockers - felt worse with them than with out them. I have never done or eaten anything anything different on workout days. I have been caffeine free for years due to bladder problems. I just eat fairly normally and wisely every day - apart from the odd biscuit and cake oh and my favourite treat - ice cream. Just don't eat too much anything moderation in all things is my way. I don't deny myself anything but only have a small amount of the bad stuff very rarely.

Can I ask what excercise you do when you train? And were the beta blockers to control your AF?

Yes, the beta-blockers were for AF. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I go on any two of these machines for 20 mins each, rowing machine, static bike, cross trainer and treadmill and then do a circuit of the weight machines interspersed with sit ups. We usually walk for an hour a day too weather and other jobs allowing.

How you feel a lot better after excercise?

Always feel better after exercise - it has been my life so I would miss it. If nothing else it gives me a sense of achievement and releases endorphins to make me feel good. Do what you can when you can and don't over do things, work up slowly if you want but just "do it" as the saying goes.

I follow the same moderation diet, although I do spend some time tracking down the best sources for the foods I eat, which are of course 50%+ more expensive.

I have loved the sport/training challenge all my life but AF convinced me moderation in exercise (and diet) is the route to less anxiety & AF free QOL. Re drinks, fizzy can be a problem if you have vagally mediated AF.

Its hard when you have been brought up with the "No pain no gain" attitude to change but exercise is exercise - it doesn't have to hurt, you don't have to push yourself too much just break into a slight sweat maybe - walk faster for a few minutes during every walk the thing to do is enjoy it.
