Hi, I am currently on Apixaban after an unprovoked PE back in March and have been reduced to 2.5mg twice a day for the remainder of my life. Does anyone know , or can point me in the right direction, if being on Apixaban weakens your immune system? Can't seem to find any info anywhere. Not asking re flu jab as have already had it last week.

Apixaban and your immune system
look up antiphospholipid syndrome and apixaban .......a rare disorder.
I’m curious as to what made you ask the question?
I have autoimmune disorders so take immune suppressants & am on 5 Mg Apixaban - for something like 7 years.
I am curious as I am new to the medication and am trying to gather information.
All I can say is I'm on the same regime. Have taken for 2 years with no noticed side effects. Like lots of people I don't like taking meds. But it was explained to me in no uncertain terms it's far better than the alternative.
I have been on apixaban 5mg x 2 daily for 3 years and on it for life. It is to prevent stroke to which A/F sufferers are prone. as tryfan says the alternative is worse.
I am quite happy to be on apixaban and have not complained about being on it, I fully understand why I am on it - all I wanted to know was “does it weaken your immune system” - but it’s obvious no one knows !!!
I don't think it would have any effect on immune system at all. It works directly on the clotting element of the blood, which has no role as far as I know in the immune system.
In any case ,many of us have to take it!
If you are concerned about immunity health in these challenging times,it might set your mind at rest to boost immunity naturally with plenty of vitamin C rich foods like peppers, oranges etc and Vit D through sunshine ( haha) milk, eggs, supplements.
Best wishes
