Hi everyone, I have been diagnosed with a-fib for 2 years. On 200 mgs of flecainide daily with an extra 50 mgs If uncontrollable. Also 3.75 mgs of bisoprolol. Any advice on upcoming ablation and in particular reducing bisoprolol afterwards would be greatly appreciated!! Bisoprolol stinks !
Look forward to hearing from you,
Goose

Regarding Bisoprolol, that will depend on a number of factors and your EP will advise after the ablation, if not, after the first review. If or when you are asked to stop, it’s better to slowly wean yourself off the drug over several weeks. Good luck with the ablation and please let us know how you get on.....
Thanks flapjack.. I do tend to rush things .. will take your advice..
I agree with FlapJack, it will depend on what your EP advises.
I'll add that I was surprised to still be on bisoprolol after my ablation but dose was slowly reduced by my EP and 18 months after the ablation I finally took my last dose
I stopped all my drugs after my 3 months EP review of the ablation.
I was on Flecainide and Diltiazem (I do not appear to tolerate beta blockers).
My EP got me to stop the flecainide first , 2 weeks or so prior to the review. I did not ask but i suspect he wanted to see if I remained in rhythm or not before the review so we could have a contructive meeting of "what next" if I did not! I did not go out of rhythm ( I do not believe I have been in AFIB since the ablation) and I stopped the other drugs over half a week immediately after the review.
