Mitrocardial prolapse

Anyone have experience of this? It seems to be related to the arrhythmia which in turn is probably related to the AF, which probably caused my stroke! Hard to know where one starts and where another finishes!!

Do you mean mitral valve prolapse?

Possibly!? All very new to me I’m afraid! Where the upper chamber of the heart regurgitates blood?!

This sounds like mitral valve prolapse. I have this and was told by my EP that it may have been what caused by my AF, but as mild as mine is, also said that I may have had it already (it is quite common even for those without AF and can also be genetic). AF can cause an enlarged heart, which can cause the valve prolapse to occur. Research that I have done does indicate that if MVP is bad enough, that the leaking blood can clot and can cause strokes. Speak to your doctor. Well controlled AF could reduce the severity of your MVP and there is surgery that can correct it, if it is not caused by your AF. Regardless, you should be on an anti-coagulant to help prevent clots that can lead to strokes.

Yes thank you. Am on blood thinners. Will be seeing a specialist in a few weeks.
