I take 12.5 mg of warfarin to maintain therapeutic range. My stomach is always bloated. Anyone with same issues? Any suggestions?

Stomach issues with warfarin
Warfarin made my stomach sore when I took it evenings. Have taken it mid breakfast every morning since and had no problems for years now.

I also get bloated, particularly if an AF episode is coming on in the next day or so.
However, we're all different. I only take 4 or 5mg during my evening meal. My INR is quite stable. I keep to a steady diet.
Thought: Does your diet include a large amount of potassium, forcing your warfarin to be correspondingly high?
Actually my potassium is generally low. I’ve been taking 10 mg of warfarin since February. They increased it to 12.5, INR tested at 2.8 for the first time. It had been running 1.5 to 1.9.
I am bloated but I have tummy issues so cannot say, I take usually 4 or 5 mgs depending on my INR. Just upped my beta blockers to 7.5mgs
Have been on warfarin for six years. I would suggest that it could be other medication you are on. as far as i am aware warfarin does not give you a bloated stomach. I take my warfarin in the late evening. I have a coagucheck so i can self check my INR then telephone the result into my medical centre.
I take mine before I get out of bed with water. Never forget tablet then.
Only time j get bloating is with wholemeal bread. Watch eating dark green vegetables and cranberry. These can put up your INS number.
Hi Afib20.
I took warfarin for 9years . I did get stomach bloating and swollen ankles but I think it was the Afib that caused it more than the anticoagulant. My doctor put me on a diuretic to clear the fluid retention. That has done the trick . I am now taking Apixoban which I believe is suited as an anticoagulant for Afib with advantage of not having to have INR checked as often. I'd speak to your doctor about it. Perhaps ask for a medication review. Re the Warfarin, I did not have many problems apart from if I had to take antibiotics which then interfered with my INR readings. Do keep on the anticoagulants. I had a stroke before I went onto warfarin, the stroke was Afib associated. (not wanting to scare you, hut make you aware ) keep well , take care.
