Clexane is another name for it. In the past I have had to self inject into my stomach for a week or so. Ended up looking like spotted dick!

Thanks for your reply. Did you suffer any side effects from this drug as he tried dabigatran at 150mmg x 2 but the side effects were horrendous.

Only the bruises from the injections. Wasn't helpd by them not having the correct size ampules for my size so I had to do two each time.

I too (like Bob) had to inject myself each day for six weeks when my leg was in a cast after surgery. That was pre AF though. I had no dramas with it (apart from the bruises).

It’s a timely reminder that the anticoagulants greatly reduce our risk of clots and strokes but they don’t totally eliminate them. I had a clot in my heart a couple of years ago - I had been on Rivaroxiban but stopped them 48 hours before a procedure - which couldn’t go ahead because of the clot.

I have been self injecting clexane for over 3 weeks now. I do not tolerate many drugs and have had all 4 of the NOAC’s.

With regard to clexane for the first few days I had severe nausea but that has stopped now. However, I developed a sore itchy rash 4 days ago on one side of my tummy. This has now spread to the other side.

My GP said I am having an allergic reaction. He has seen it before but never as quickly as has happened to me.

The answer is to take anti histamine tablets but I fear that they will trigger AF. He gave me some hydrocortisone cream, but that seems to make it worse.

I really do have problems with whatever I am prescribed and it is getting worse as I get older.

Give it a go you will probably be fine. Good luck.
