Blood Test

Hi All.

When I started to have high heart irregular heart rate 1st plan of action by doc was egg & blood test. Sent up hospital on 11th Aug and the rest is history as per my posts. I had a letter from to say contact them regarding my blood test results at my convenience.

The hospital was going to inform my doc that I now have Afib via letter and I was to contact my doctor in about 2 - 3 weeks to discuss my Afib, I presume any reactions to taking new drugs. A phone appointment was made for the Aug 26th and I phoned her yesterday. All organ functions were OK but I was low on Sodium and prescribed a off prescription for iron.

I asked about my Afib and she said what Afib!!! She had no idea I had Afib but was aware I was sent up the hospital. Anyway my pills run out in one week’s time and they were not even on my medical record.

I asked about exercise as I have read on almost every web site to consult your doc for advice. I am afraid to say she did flounder a bit as I mentioned I wanted to exercise my lungs but by the time I start to breath a bit heavy my uneven heart rate goes very high. She said just exercise while feeling OK but no more. I replied even when my heart rate is say mid 160`s I feel ok and unless I had a heart monitor watch I would not even know it was that high as in theory my top heart rate should be 148.

She then told me to take it to 150-155 max for just a very short time then let it come back down to my resting heart rate which is about 65. I think in order to do that I would have to lay on the ground for about 15 min. At least we got somewhere.

All too familiar story . GPs seldom know much about AF. General rule is that you can exercise and talk at the same time.

Or as I was advised after my heart attack "You can exercise until you are breathless, but not speechless"
