There is quite a lot about ICDs on BHF forum. Not that common here I fear.

Hello, yes had one fitted after a cardiac arrest eight years ago, just had it changed a few weeks ago (nothing wrong it was just nearing the end of its life).

I had it fitted after a cardiac arrest at home. If my heart rate goes too low it paces it. If my heart rate goes too high for a length of time it shocks me.

Thank you for this, are you on any other medication for your heart?

so it "shocks" you like a cardioversion? Ive heard those are done under anesthesia. What happens when you are driving a car and you package goes off???

Yes it does shock you. My last one was just a defib one night I woke up and it shocked me 5 times! They replaced it with the one I have not. The surgery is done while you are awake. I can't answer the driving question as I don't drive.

Why do you ask that?

Just out of interest to see if the device is enough to keep your heart steady
