Update re Emergency Room trip etc

An update: I've been in contact with my electrophysiologist who said it looked like I was having SVTs in the ER, and he said SVTs look very similar to atrial flutter except when you look at something to do with the "p" waves, that something would be a determining factor that it's SVT.

He has increased my Flecainide to 150mg, twice a day, which is the maximum dose. The best guess is that the metoprolol IV-drip they gave me slowed my heart rate enough so that it reset itself and I didn't need Adenosine or a conversion. It's really anyone's guess and if/when it happens again, who knows what will work, but I sure won't wait 24+ hours to get to an emergency room!

I forgot to ask him why this latest episode on Sunday gave me sporadic "sweats" like hot flashes (I'm decades beyond hot flashes!)

I'm depressed and anxious and worried of course about my heart health. I'm going to start dieting again (I'm very fluffy!) and hope that weight loss will help with this heart thing, or perhaps I'll even be able to reduce my medication to a degree. The darn weight comes off so slowly...and I also stress eat and am kind of obsessed with eating soothing food.

A major source of my increased stress is living with the person I married who is not the most thoughtful or supportive person -- but that's another story for another time, and really, it's no wonder I stress-eat!

It seems that everything is changing now. Thanks for reading and I'd appreciate sending positive and calming thoughts my way!

Other people have no idea what it's like to have AF do they? My daughter's advice is ignore it and enjoy life. If only it was easy as that! I think we all often experience little regard from others for our symptoms especially when we've had arrhythmias for many years and are still here to tell the tale.

Pleased to hear that you're going to start dieting, we often hear on this forum how that can help. Go girl, show them all that you mean what you say. Let us know how you get on please.

Sorry to hear you have stress in your life as I have just posted saying I think stress is my worse trigger to AF. From my personal experiences in A & E I would have thought it was a positive that the IV Metoprol converted without having to have a DC conversion, at least they have some really useful information about what can work for you. Good luck with your diet, if others close stress me out, and they can, I put on my headphones and listen to calming music and when they try and talk I ignore them as if I couldn't hear...works.

Sounds as if your medical team are on the case well.

Taking positive steps such as the weight will only help.

Stress does affect our physical well being,so if there is anything you can do about that the better.

If your spouse is being thoughtless and unsupportive I would say so ! But seriously this forum is just the opposite so I hope you find help and kindness here ,as well as your medical people xxx
