Ongoing updates .. intended to be helpful so apologisee if this is like a rather like a self centred saga!
following my first ablation on 10 July and a cardioinversion last Friday 14th of August (after 3 weeks of my worst "Afib") The inversion worked for a week but I have now moved back into Afib yesterday. This all sounds quite negative, but it has revealed some really important things or me, so strangely I am upbeat today.
The reason is that after the inversion despite NSR I felt , if anything, more unwell than before. My cardio and this site led us to identify that most of my QOL symptoms were due to Bisoprolol not the Afib. I have had a dreadful week getting titrated off 8.75mg a day to zero.
The reduction of Bisoprolol started before the inversion on12 August I went to 5mg / day 13 August 2.5 mg/day and Zero on the day of the inversion back to 2.5mg on 15th of August. The effects were really bad i am 60 and my asthma that ended in my late 30's came roaring back, I put on 10 lbs over 6 days despite eating very little, I felt like an unfit 96 year old.
I am a hypochodriac so have : Blood oxymeter, BP monitor , Peak flow meteretc at home, so I could not understand why when they all said "You are fine!" I felt so weak and energy less
But having identified that Bisoprolol is the issue, It has been really progressive . Each day without Bisoprolol has got 50% better than the one before..... and so now a week later and on Diltiazem calcium channel blocker to go with Flecainide 50Mg twice a day Despite afib at 110 -120 bpm I feel fantastic!
My big advice if your "Numbers " say you should be fine but you feel crap... Look at your medicines and talk with your doctor, and then and only then try changes.
Appointment with my Cardio on Monday where i fully expect another ablation to hove into view, but for the first time in months I have a flicker of optimism that there is light at the end of the tunnel
Thanks for your patience with this long post
