Hi, Wandering if anybody suffering with AF also has Carotid Calcification plus Hypothyroidism. I cannot feel my heart’s beats in the chest at all but in the inside of my (left ear), very disturbing. When the beats are slow (due to meds) he thumps in my ear drive me mad. Any comment greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm guessing that no one has the Carotid Calcification. I know a few members on here have AF and hypothyroidism, me being one of them. I have felt and heard my heartbeat in my ears, but am wondering if it's far worse for you.

Hi Jean, thanks for replying to my post. I guess my issue is much worse since it was driving me nuts for years. Thankfully, a few weeks ago, my wonderful cardiologist gave me Sotalol (after telling him that I could not keep living any longer with this causing me serious sleeping deprivation…) 40mg twice a day but reduced now to only 40mg at nigh due to swelling and breathing problems) and it is now, the problem, better tolerable, since I can sleep much better. It had been a vicious circle for a long time. Take care

Hi, I have pulsatile tinnitus and hypothyroidism, and of course AF. I had ultra sound scan on carotid, but all was fine there. My left ear always feels a pulse, I feel every beat there, . Sometimes it does aggravate me, but I try to put mind over matter, use distraction, read a book, listen to music keep busy, it's more noticeable when I feel anxious, so try to keep anxieties at bay. I think accepting there isn't much I can do about it and it's just part of me now has helped it to become less of a nuisance. If you can try not to let it dominate your life. Best wishes Kath.

Hi Kath, thank you for replying to my post. I understand your issue, and doubting why are you feeling the beats of your heart in you left ear without having any blockages in your main left artery (but you are lucky no to have my condition). As your suggestion I have tried all tricks but it only aggravates it since I still hear the powerful beats above any other sound, and often forcefully and fast. Thankfully, a few weeks ago, my wonderful cardiologist gave me Sotalol (40mg twice a day but reduced now to only 40mg at nigh due to swelling and breathing problems) and it is now, the problem, much tolerable. About hypo… the dr. says to keep and eye on it, because its correlation whit AF. Take care.
