I had this done yesterday in London and after two shocks 150 and 200 I am back in normal sinus rhythm woop. woop! I have a pacemaker which made things a bit complicated. I now have two large red patches front and back which sting like made and itch all night. How long will these take to heal and any tips. I am using aloe gel for sunburn. Kept waking up in the heat last night as back one especially itchy.

Post cardioversion burn mrks?
hi there
I had a cardio inversion/restart after ablation and had similar (itchy) burns they went after 4 days and stopped being itchy after 2. I applied after sun and it seemed to work
Steve
After sun cream is fine. No problem and common effect of DCCV. I've known people with much worse!
I was given some hydrocortisone cream when I was discharged. A few days and the soreness was gone. Couple of weeks for the red burns to disappear
I have suffered from urticaria from heart monitor electrodes and also like you had burn marks after cardioversion.
I really sympathise with you. I should get better after a few days but I did find some relief by dabbing with very cold water. I also got relief with a cold/cool shower.

My urticaria from electrodes would last for a minimum of 2 weeks. The worst occasion it lasted 5 months. It was worse to deal with mentally than AF which also plays mind games with my brain.

I've had lots of cardioversions and used to be given a tube of cream at one time, but not now. I have extremely sensitive skin and have never had a reaction (but then it only takes one shock to send me back into normal rhythm). I started refusing the cream as I didn't need it.
Your aloe gel sounds ideal to use.
Hi. Yep, me too. The only thing that I find really soothes ice ice packs. Ointments don't help me. Goes away after three or four days.
Yes common after DC cardio version .. I’ve had it done twice. Lucky you, didn’t work for me. Redness will be visible for a week tender for 3 days or so, will sting in the shower, bit like sunburn.
Thanks all - it is a lot better now.
