Some information for you

Hello again, pleased to say I had a replacement pacemaker installed last Wednesday , all went well thankfully, but why do they have the operating theatre so cold, I was shaking like a leaf and really uncomfortable.

The good thing is they asked if I would have a virtual gizmo which would save me trips to the hospital and them a lot more free time for other patients.

It was so simple to install and understand that I did it easily.

Quite sore and bruised but all ok so far, a relief it’s done, with luck this may have been my last swap.

Still recovering from the hip saga, they say I have an unstable hip which means muscle and ligaments unattached, am doing exercises to try and improve the hip but still cannot walk unaided, it’s worse when I have a flare up of arthritis.

Looking forward to our diamond wedding soon, celebrations curtailed because of the virus, but we will have a lovely Thai meal with all our family, not what was planned but circumstances prevail.

Born during the Battle of Britain, married during the worst storm in 1960.

Still going strong, so lucky!

Stay happy and positive

I know that bacteria thrive more in a warm environment, so perhaps that's the reason the operating theatres are kept cool. I've always been asked if I'd like a blanket over me, then I get this thin cotton thing with no warmth at all put over me. Lol.

Glad all went well for you.

Best wishes

Jean

Interesting so I just looked it up and actually infection is more likely in cold temperatures as blood flow is affected, the reason theatres are kept cold is so the staff stay comfortable, apparently they and particularly the surgeons get hot in their scrubs 🤦🏻‍♀️ Great we have to freeze but they are just fine and dandy 🙄

The staff are also wearing protective gear for X-rays so must get very warm.

Yes hence the 'flu, gasto and now of course Covid outbreaks being worse in the winter ( and perhaps people's low Vit D affecting immunity)

It’s freezing in the cath lab but I asked for a warming blanket second time around which made the world of difference. I would have thought it would make the cardiologists job easier as well to not have a shivering patient!

I believe the equipment such as the mapping devices & x-rays requires low temperatures as they are in continual use in a cath lab.

Glad it went well for you. I always feel freezing too and interesting to read why it’s so cold. Congratulations on your diamond anniversary, we’ve missed out on our Golden anniversary celebration party too. Enjoy your meal and hope you recover well.
