Ibruprofen and Afib

I have what I believe to be a tension or hormonal headache on my right hand side. Can I take Ibruprofen with Afib? I’m on 2.5mg of Bisoprolol.

Thanks

NO!!!! Ibupropfen is a known cause for AF never mind the contra indication with most anticoagulants. Paracetamol is the best thing to take unless you have prescription pain killers.

Thanks, BobD, I thought so but couldn’t remember. I’ve taken two lots of paracetamol today and it hasn’t shifted. I’m suffering with Labrynthitis which is not helping! Thanks for your reply Xxxx

I have permanent Afib and had labrynthitis type symptoms last week. Told not to take my other anti sickness but prescribed a nasal spray and cinnarizine which helped after a few days. Xc

Can I take Co-codamol?

Should be fine. I have codeine as back up when my arthritis is really bad but try not to use it.

I'm not sure what Biso*** is, but most with AFib take a blood thinner. Ibuprofen is a definitive is Aspirin and thins blood. Drs usually shy away from it for that reason. Personally, I take a couple with no ill effect about every month or two.

Hope you get to feeling better!

Thanks for your reply. I don’t take a blood thinner. Defo don’t want an Afib attack from a pain killer though...

Not if you are on any anti coagulants. Paracetamol is best. Hope you feel better

I had a tooth out yesterday & dentist had to use a spike to help get it out. Was in quite a lot of discomfort after the anaesthetic wore off. Paracetamol didn't have much effect so took CoCodamol after checking it was OK. Oh the relief!!

Only problem with CoCodamol is, it can cause chronic constipation.

Please remember to check dosages if using cocodamol. It's a mix of codeine and paracetamol so if you are also taking other pain killers such as paracetamol then dont exceed the recommended dose from both types of tablets.

No, I was told not to while on betablockers. Be aware of other drugs with ibruprofen in them such as sufafed too x

I was advised that I could never take Ibuprofen or an NSAID. I was told the only thing I could take was Tylenol.

Hi,

I have af and find ibruprophine makes me depressed. I used to take it for sore joints before the heart problem because of the anti-inflammatory benefits. I have tried the ibruprophine gel which works quite well with no depression effects. But I've not heard of the gel being used on the head before. Let me know if it works.
