Thanks for much for everyone's help on the low heart rate. Yesterday I was Rushed to hospital by ambulance because my heart rate was so low I'm still in hospital now on a ECG machine and it keeps going really low and it's super high and all the alarms going up.

No doubt they will sort you out now. Sounds like sick sinus syndrome?

When I was 52 I had a similar event with intervals of extreme bradycardia interspersed with tachycardia. Prior to that I had a number of events when I felt extremely tired and was undergoing blood tests but found to be sound from that aspect.

My diagnosis was that as suggested to you by BobD -“SSS” and I was fitted with a dual chamber pacemaker and have been fine for 15 years although AF has reared its ugly head.

When I say “fine” I mean I carried on doing all the mad things I did before pacemaker 1 but with much more energy. I just have to avoid electrical devices such as vacuum cleaners, irons ( I’m sure they were on the list 😀) and a whole load of other things……

Now on pacemaker 3 earlier than expected as pacemaker 2 made a bid for escape after excessive stretching.

Hope you’re sorted very soon ..

I hope they sort you out soon. I know it was hard for me when I was in that position, but I would suggest that you try to relax and avoid watching the monitor. It may sound a bit simplistic but I found deep breathing when fast and moving about a bit when slow did help!

Like OldGrit I had a pacemaker put in. That enables me to take the maximum dose of bisoprolol and my resting heart rate rarely goes over 100.

Stay there until you get a plan that makes sense for you - hope its soon!

We made half a plan cut meds even more talked about pacemakers. Have my home ecg Tom for 3 days then see cardiologist two weeks time for more tests a full action plan, cardiologist did say to me today that my heart is all over the place it has no rhythm barely at all.

I hope they don't discharge you with "your heart all over the place".

I’m sure they don’t think you’re likely to come to any harm, but it would be reassuring if they advised you what you should be looking out for and who to contact if you have any concerns. (IMO) 😊

Sounds horrible but at least they've now witnessed it all and are forming a plan. You seem able to cope with the idea of being at home for the time being. I hope all will go smoothly and they provide a workable solution quickly. Your A and E doesn't sound too horrendous, which must be a relief!

It seems going to the Emergency Room is often the way to get immediate treatment and tests. I hope it is all sorted quickly and I plan made. I always feel better when I have a plan.

hi my husband was the same as you for a while. He had his Apple Watch and all night he was below 50 bpm. Daytime he would go low in the 50,s and then shoot up to 150’s and back down again all in 3 seconds. As you say all over the place. He was given a dual lead pacemaker in January ever unfortunately blacking out and breaking his nose. Not the ideal way of moving up the waiting list but as he ended up in A&E they kept him in and did it after a few days. He has had paroxysmal a fib for 4 years and although the pacemaker doesn’t cure the a fib at least his heart is not so crazy! Wishing you well and hope you get sorted soon

I hope you get sorted. The Bisoprodol definitely wasn't your friend. Xx

That sounds like SSS as already suggested. Like you rushed to hospital but I had collapsed. In resus for about 2 days than Cardiac Ward or another 8 days. Eventually diagnosed with SSS & fitted with a dual pacemaker. On meds to control AFib but it's not working so waiting on an ablation procedure now. Fingers crossed they get you sorted quickly x

Please make sure to get your thyroid tested to include TSH, FT4, FT3, TPO, Tgab and Trab antibdies(the last one for Graves/hyperthyroid. If your FT3 is low it can affect the heart and cause the symptoms you mention.

Hope you feel better soon.

My Mum had a similar experience, the medical team in the hospital introduced Bisoprolol whilst she was taking Ditalizem - they should have stopped the Ditalizem but gave it and discharged her from A+E as she was having fast AF, next day took another Bisoprolol and then a Ditalizem 6 hrs later and then went down to 26-30 BPM. It was confirmed that the drug mixture was the root cause for the brady, they ceased the Ditalizem and re-introduced the Bisporolol and was stable again.
