Hi I am on edoxaban for for AFib & I have always wondered if it is working.I had some blood tests after an A & E visit in Portugal & wondered if anybody has experience of interpretating these.Tp 14.5 normal 9- 12.5,INR 1.22,APTT 38.1 Normal 24.0 - 37.I cannot find what the range should be on edoxaban.

It works, no inr or other tests required as it works totally differently to warfarin

Hi I know it works differently & Bob I know INr not relevant but the other tests I posted show a longer clotting time as they are above the normal range so I do think it is possible to test efficiency and there do seem to have been studies but very difficult to wade through if not trained.

Because it works. It operates on a different part of the clotting process (factorX) so INR is not relevant.

It has to be a leap of faith in much the same way we do not know how much most of the medication the population is taking works! That’s why Pharmaceutical companies are required to carry out trials and tests costing millions which are scrutinised by independent specialist bodies so that we can be confident that they do what they are supposed to!

Hi FlapJack

Im afraid I dont trust pharmaceuticals at all as they run a cartel in this country and have pushed the price of liothyronine (T3) up so high that CCGs have banned it here and abroad due to cost and are making patients ill. Are they scrutinised by independent companies I will have to research that one?! The man below just got a slap on the wrist for swindling NHS out of millions and CMA did a deal with him so he didnt have to go to Court! No hope for reduction in price of T3._The Asians thzt run these companies are thectop ten millionaires in Britain and have rolling mandions both here and abroad. CMA should be closed down! I have written to CMA on this but no doubt wont get an answer!

When my hubby didnt want to go on NOAC/DOAC because he felt safer having his INR checked, the doc told him they could do a check of the NOAC/DOAC. He didnt want to go to surgery due to COVID-19 and she was trying to get him on these drugs. He is still on warfarin and got a machine second hand from a kind person on here but he doesnt like the idea of not knowing whether the other drugs are working or not. Its probably psychological but he feels happier this way. I wonder how many 'independent' trials have been done on these new drugs and I know some still dont have antidotes? I think they want people on these so they dont have to book appointments at the surgery forthe INR.
