What withdrawal symptoms are there coming off bisoprolol. I am back on amiodarone after i went into AF 3months after first ablation i have been listed

For another ablation dont know when yet at Broadgreen. I was put back on bisop as well but have really bad headaches and lethargy so i have been weaning myself off after seeing advice on here for last few weeks ( GPand EP ok that i am coming off) i got down to 1//4 of 1.25 tablet 4 days ago and quite suddenly started being tachy and back in fast AF could it be that i have reduced too quickly although i have been careful. Has this happened to anyone else, thanks for any help 🙂

Oddly enough I stopped Bisoprolol 1.25mg 7 days ago as I was fed up with the periods of total exhaustion which had recently presented. I was not sure if Bisop was to blame but prepared to give bit a go. I feel much better .

My heart rate has risen a little ...now 70/80, previously 60/70. If i return to tachycardia then I will restart Bisop . I was , before lockdown, using it as a Pill in the Pocket but as I had such a bad time earlier in the year, in and out of A &E with rates over 230 and resulting in DCCV, I decided to take it daily ( as medics preferred me to do ). The last place I wanted to visit was A&E 😕

I think you will have to seek advice of your medics now especially as you are on Amiodarone. I have also taken this in the past but have taken Disopyramide ..class 1a anti arrhythmic. ..for several years now.

Hi Jalia thanks for your reply, yes Bisoprolol doesnt agree with me, the lathargy, slow heart rate and head pains like sinus, i was on 2.5 whem discharged and loading dose amiodarone. for the first 7days Gp reduced to 1.25 then told me just to stop, after last year when i came off it had horrendous withhdrawal symptoms as GP stopped it. so i reduced it for next 5 days by half then half again 4 days ago so gradularly, but last evening without any warning started afibbing with fast heart rate lasting 10 hrs my pulse has remained around 100, for the last few werks been below 60. sorry this is a long story, just hope it settles i took 1.25 this morning to if would bring rate down but not yet just wonder if anyone else ecperienced this

Hi there! I hope your meds have been sorted since you last posted. I had cardioversion last week and my bisoprolol was reduced from 15 mgs to 10 mgs immediately. I have been having terrible headaches for the last few days and wonder if tbis is a withdrawal symptom. Did your dr confirm this for you? Any advice appreciated!!! My afib is behaving and I don't want to upset that!!!

Hi sorry for delayed reply, as far as my experiences of coming off bisop is concerned severe headaches was my main symptom coming off them suddenly called a kickback reaction, advise to come off the dose slowly, hope you are ok

Aw, thank you so much for your reply. Nobody else seemed to have headaches as a side effect amd I was starting to worry!!! I came off 15 mgs to 10 mgs nearly 2 weeks ago, with no titration at all. My digoxin was also stopped completely. I have to stay on 10 mgs of bisoprolol so hopefully the headaches will stop soon. They are lessening now in frequency and intensity but my neck and all over my head is sore and achy! So weird! The medics don't seem to consider med withdrawal, do they: as long as the cardioversion was successful, that is it!!! Thank you for your reassuring cooments!

glad your starting to feel better, i am now on metoprolol with similar side effects but trying to tolerate at the moment, yes i agree medics dony take any real notice of side effects which makes you feel like you are imagining them
