Loop Recorder & Pacemaker information

Previously had a loop recorder and now a pacemaker. When in the doctor's office and information is being taken from these devices they have not always reflected what I have documented at home. For example, one month the loop showed no Afib and I had recorded and FELT several afib episodes. Just three weeks ago got pacemaker and when I went in for a checkup I asked about a particular time and date as I'd felt miserable with heart jumping and pounding. But the device showed nothing unusual happening at that time? Anyone every experience the same thing? It makes me not want to trust information the doctor receives from these devices.

It's a strange thing but these readings that the doctor's receive can go either way. I hate them because they are not consistent. The best way to tell if you are experiencing AF and jumping heart is to take your own pulse and write it in a log.

I couldn’t comment on Loop recorder bu I think it’s really difficult to trust your body as well as many people feel palpitations caused by harmless, multiple ectopic beats - which I find make me as, if not more symptomatic than AF.

Ectopics do show up on ECG so I can correlate them via my Kardia. Thankfully they don’t happen often.

All AF events certainly sync with pacemaker data.

Palpitations just means that a person is aware of their heart it does not define what the heart is doing which in your case would seem nothing out of the ordinary.

I think we all tend to become overly conscious of your hearts to an unhealthy level so try to relax, be re-assured by what you are told and find things to do which stop you thinking about it. I know, I have been there so many times.!

Hi Tux, my pacemaker does not record my AF if it is below 140bpm, I have slow AF and has never been recorded on my pacemaker, however I have a 3 lead ECG monitor and use this to confirm I am in AF, I also take the ECG's readings when I have my pacemaker checked once a year to show them I have been In AF. My SVT gets recorded on my pacemaker and also short runs of VT .

Not what you're looking for?
