Received pacemaker

Yesterday my pacemaker implanted and loop recorder removed. . Extremely tired and weak feeling today. Wondering if others who have received one might inform me as to how long it takes to get to your strength back?

Guess it won’t cure my fib but will take care of the pauses and extremely low pulse rate I had been having.

So fortunate to have this wonderful website has been such a help..

Take it easy. The medics have been rummaging around inside your chest and fiddling around with leads and things. Your body is probably wondering about what is going on and wants to have a rest while it works out what is going on?

I had an awful lot of bruising, pain and was very breathless after my implant and it was around 6 weeks before things settled down and I felt better.

Did they check your pacemaker settings before you left hospital ? I had to go back next day for another X-ray and pacing check, I should have been checked again at 4 weeks but it was cancelled due to what's currently going on.

It does take time but if you don't improve call your pacing team or arrhythmia nurse.

I agree with what’s already been said, but I also felt that I had a great weight inside my chest at first. Getting up from bed in the morning felt really odd and very heavy. Happy to say no longer have much awareness of it. Will be due for a new one next year!

Yes feels like big weight in my chest. I just did not expect Id feel so weak afterwards. And it certainly has not helped my afib, I feel it has made it worse at this point. I was not expecting it to necessarily cure or help the afib, but making it worse is discouraging. maybe things will settle down soon I hope. It’s only been three days since the procedure.
